    ***Official England in India***

Yeah, Zaheer looked like he was trying incredibly hard. Reminds me of Srinath back in the day - these are two guys who bowled their hearts out, but were ultimately not as fortunate with respect to wickets. Zaheer's economy in this game was impeccable, too. Under 2 RPO in both innings.

Sehwag - an all time great?

I think it's fruitless to try to compare players across eras. No one knows how Bradman would've performed in the 1990s and no one knows how Tendulkar would've performed in the 1930s. And no one, for sure, knows how Sehwag would've performed against "all time greats." The question is, ultimately...

    ***Official England in India***

Yeah, I wasn't watching the game but from what I read, they played incredibly slow in the post-lunch session of Day 4. Especially for a team that was in such a situation as they were in and trying to set a target. Granted, the England lineup seems to lack the kind of batsmen needed to really...

Courtney Walsh: underrated great, all-time bowler?

As has been mentioned, I don't think Walsh is as good as many of his peers, but he had admirable qualities in his own right. For one, the sheer length of his career was quite impressive. And he basically carried the West Indies bowling for the last 2-ish years of his career.

    ***Official England in India***

Yeah, Richard's right. You guys need to stop blasting the people who expressed some doubt early on. It was completely 100% justifiable to think 387 was a bit too much to chase. Nothing in the statistics could predict what happened today. It's just an utterly improbable event and chances are we...

    ***Official England in India***

All hail Tendulkar is all there is to it. Still, as awesome as he was, I must say Sehwag's blitzkrieg innings yesterday really set the tempo for the chase today and made it that much more easier.

    ***Official England in India***

So I come back from a self-imposed 10+ day hiatus from my obsession that is CricketWeb and we have this wonderful match to talk about. Mmmmm.... Regrettable that Dravid seems to have had another bad match. :(

Ranadeb Bose - another unsung Hero??

Yeah, I used to watch him bowl. He has a decent ODI record as I've noted but hasn't been given much of a chance in tests. Either he was always that good in FC or he just really got a lot better recently. Doubt he will ever see international cricket again, though.

Ranadeb Bose - another unsung Hero??

Thing also is, a good domestic record for an Indian player can be misleading. Lots of Indian players who were selected on promising performances at home failed to perform abroad. Just because I guess batting is "easier" in India. Two batsmen with equal skill, given one is used to Indian...

Ranadeb Bose - another unsung Hero??

I feel like a lot of decent Indian seamers will ultimately miss out on careers at the international level just because they are not fast enough. I know Debasis Mohanty sort of had a chance a few years ago, and he didn't perform too horribly. ODI average of 29 isn't that bad. And now I see he's...

West Indies to tour England n 2009

Sadly, India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan all play way too many 2-test series. I think India has played one 5-test series since 2000 and I don't think SL has ever played a series with more than 3 tests...

West Indies to tour England n 2009

Yeah! I'm not sure if he played, though, I imagine he did. Only reason I heard about it was the owner of the Bangalore team basically had a hissy fit mid-season because his team was doing so poorly and blamed it on Dravid for selecting such a team. Sadly enough, the Deccan (Hyderabad) team...

West Indies to tour England n 2009

Chanderpaul too. Ironically in the same team as other thumping batsmen such as Dravid and Kallis. :p

    Ponting's future in jeopardy???

Yeah. :\ Both India and Australia have/had 3 batsmen who average over 50 and 3 who average over 40. Nobody from NZ is even close to 40. :(

End of Quota system in SA??

Good news! So who is most likely to lose a test spot because of this?

    Duckworth/Lewis - Fair?

I don't think the people who came up with it did it because someone asked them to or because they thought it would be "cool" to come up with a system that most people won't understand. It's actually kind of their job to come up with these things. My guess is, a senior mathematician is someone...

Y'know it's not a porn stache in India! It's actually fairly regular. :p

    Who's Better???

The dark fire will not avail you, Flame of Udun! Go back to the shadow. You shall not pass!! In all seriousness, then, I guess I will say Amla is better for the simple reason that he looks like he will have a fairly long and decent test career, something Hirwani didn't have. Even though it's...

Would you like these sort of tracks in international cricket
