I agree with you but sometimes one doesn't need to be so black-and-white about things. I think there was reason to see if Jadeja being a left-hander could break up England's rhythm of bowling the same line and also the slightly different technique might have worked well against the swinging...

I honestly don't think it was that mad. I think it would be mad not to give him another go at 5 in the second innings. No one guarantees runs in one given innings, even Joe Root (as shown today).

For me, this is evidence that there is a preparation problem rather than coincidental bad form. None of these players are playing any FC cricket and hardly any tour games. All they know is being constantly probed by world class bowling and it has made them too negative and watchful - just look...

England worked hard to keep India in the game there. The pitch looks good and there was zero swing. Unsure India will be able to prevent someone from scoring a century unless it starts swinging tomorrow - which is perfectly possible.

Umesh Yadav with the new ball - LOL. Kohli must have some money on England here.

Clueless is the word. Pathetic is another word.

I think England will just end the Test match today by showing that this is a flat pitch where any Test-quality batsman can score runs.

Without a selection overhaul, there will be no improvement. India need to trial new batsmen in place of Pujara and Rahane and even keeping the openers slot open for discussion because of KL's now well-established inconsistency. And as much of a fan and defender that I am of Rishabh Pant, he's...

Another batsman will just be another lemming though without a change in mindset to look to get on top of the bowling.

And also it is proof with how bad Pujara, Kohli and Rahane have been playing that they are regularly outscored by people like Thakur. Bit of positivity goes a long way.

We've seen this useless top order for too long.

Yep! Prefer to 2018 where we lost due to pure lack of balls rather than ability.

India are ****ed. Spineless batsmen in testing conditions - now, then, forever.

A sheer refusal to bat positively.

Very much feels like men vs boys when India are batting.

I'm calling runs for him in this innings.

Not a good look but cricket is not necessarily about good looks or bad looks, just about winning. I truly think that Jadeja has shown a strong technique outside off stump and so the gutsy decision is not without a reason. He's not the slogger that many think he is.

Yes I'm aware he has no technique against the moving ball but maybe he'll get himself in somehow and manage to score runs. Hanging the bat out waiting for an edge just doesn't get the batsmen "in", in England and so they're just waiting to snick off.

I'm starting to think Shaw is necessary. Defensive batting is just not the way to go here - unless someone at the other end is scoring quickly.

Disagree about shielding or w/e - I think it is good to shake things up. Won't necessarily work but it is better than just doing nothing and awaiting the inevitable.
