    Brian Lara vs Ricky Ponting

ABDV was a genius. In batting terms, I think modern cricket has seen 3 authentic geniuses - Lara, VIv and De Villiers.

100 Greatest Cricketers by Benedict Bermange (Sky Sports)

Lists like these are always subjective. Increasingly, I feel comparisons across eras are pointless and certainly comparisons between modern (covered wicket era) and pre-modern (before covered wickets) is not viable or productive. Nonetheless, not the worst list.

Ravichandran Ashwin retires from international cricket

He had a wonderful career. Bit of a HTB but most spinners are. Incredible match winner at home. Indian great for sure. Also, he seemed like a decent fellow, so props for that.

*** Official *** Pakistan all format tour of South Africa 10 December to 7 January

Saw the HL on youtube. Pakistan are building something in ODIs. Young guys, fresh (ish) blood. Good stuff. Sweeping RSA is something. Kudos.

    Imran Khan vs Barry Richards

Imran Khan has a strong, strong case for being the greatest cricketer of alltime. I believe CMJ had him 2nd over the last 40 years - and I broadly agree. He was a truly ATG bowler, a solid batsman, a brilliant leader. This comparison is silly, the other dude played 4 tests.

    Jasprit Bumrah vs Waqar Younis

Waqar mark 1 is as great as any bowler has ever been. By the end, this may change, but across a career, at this time, it's still Waqar.

    Brian Lara vs Ricky Ponting

Lara was a genius. There are lots of great batsmen but very few geniuses. You know genius when you see it, it's the ease of it all. The x factor, the ability to do that which is impossible for others. Many achieve equal results through sheet grit and grind, and kudos to them, but they lack the x...

    Jasprit Bumrah vs Andy Roberts

Roberts was deffo the more intimidating bowler - quicker too. Bumrah is a wonderful bowler and India's first great fast bowler. He will have a better career by the end of it all. That said, Andy has a deep legacy and that means something.

    The Fastest Bowler ever?

Nothing is an exhilirating as raw pace in cricket. Akhtar was lightening, Thommo, Holding, Lee. Amongst those who had full careers - those 4 stand out for me for their raw pace.

    Martin Crowe vs Younis Khan

Martin Crowe was a wonderful player but Younis Khan is superior overall. This refers to tests. [FTR, nice to be back after ages, been so super busy. Hope you guys are well]. :)

The FINAL- South Africa vs India (D), Kensington Oval, Barbados-- June 29th

India deserved to win. This is the best T20 bowling line-up ever assembled tbh. Possibly the best T20 team yet seen. Enjoy it lads. A fine job. It has absolutely everything.

    'Big Hearted' cricketers

^ He was a moody lad.

    Softest cricketer (smallest heart)

No one who watched Imran Khan would ever think he was of small heart. People are showing their biases, which is rather sad. TBH I do not associate great tenacity with many modern era Pakistani cricketers, but some in the past had it. Imran, Miandad, Majid Khan definitely had it. More recently...

    Softest cricketer (smallest heart)

Imran Khan is one of the more big hearted cricketers. He loved the heat of battle.

    'Big Hearted' cricketers

How can we forget Brian Close? Limited as he was, he really did face the heat.
