If you can't face the new ball why should you be in the team. Let him prove himself

I'd be interested to know why the selectors thought Hodge unsuitable to open v the windies and yet good enough to be our reserve batsman for the ASHES. He has been poorly treated imo.

Hear hear. There are no other wickies in world cricket (and i include Gilly) that can play as a specialist top order bat in tests. Excellent technique and temperament.

    Duncan Fletcher Blasts Australia

Assuming it takes two minutes to get to and from to the sheds, that leaves 6 minutes for a massage. Are you saying that a 6 minute massage would not be beneficial to the body before coming out to bowl?

    Duncan Fletcher Blasts Australia

It is part of the captains job as far as i am concerned. To say Ponting 'confronted' the umps, as DF said he did is ott imo, he more 'questioned', or 'complained' as i saw it. His dissapointment may have 'shone' thru but not to the point where he was aggressive or overly hostile.

    Duncan Fletcher Blasts Australia

Yes i agree with all that. I am not saying Eng were not better than Australia and they did deserve the Ashes. I am trying to point out that Ponting did have cause to confront the umpires over the crook decisions they made.

On the whole, Australia got the majority of poor decisions. They seemed to come in bundles aswell. eg Ponting and Martyns inside edge lb's, and Warne on several occasions.

Pontings frustration was magnified by how unlucky Warne was and had been throughout the series. He was getting consecutive good shouts turned down at various stages and this is when Ponting complained. Justifiably so imo.

Well considering your English and hence the beneficiary of said poor decisions, i guess u wouldn't be too unhappy with the umpiring

Fletcher is going about it the right way if he wants Australians to hate his guts..

I will. So many decisions went against Warney, that Ponting and Gilly would have been neligent in their duty as captain and vice captain if they had just let it slide

Should the New Technology/3rd Umpire referrals trialled in the Super Series continued

The stump mike didn't appear a useful or effective tool to me. There were a number of instances where it should have been useful or used correctly, and wasn't. Watsons' dismissal (what else is it for?), and obviously the Boucher one.

Should the New Technology/3rd Umpire referrals trialled in the Super Series continued

I think it was quite apt how Rudi made a complete howler of a decision just after making his comments. I was impressed with how it ran overall, the time it took to reach a decision was not too long and the accuracy of the decisions weren't too bad imo. Onward and upward.

Dissapointed the ROW couldn't last 60 overs. I would have liked to have seen whether Watson could bowl with any reverse swing. No i'm not kidding...

I have never even heard of a batsman getting out from a 'inner' or 'outer edge'. Inside our outside maybe
