Watson - injured McDonald - injured Mitch Marsh - injured Hopes - injured Christian - suspended All falling into the place for Moses to get back into the Australia team. All the COD snipper practice is woking. Just need to make that plane to Hobart...

Hearth was always awesome, just never got a game because Murali didn't want be showed up by another spinner that could take overs and wickets of him. He has been bowling like this for 15 years at domestic level.

Brillant come back from Mahela and Mathews, would have been nice for some more runs from the lower order. But any lead is good lead. Hearth once again nabs a wicket just when we need it. Re: Migara and Cribbs from 10 pages back before the all one line dribble, regarding Mathews batting position...

I'm not the selectors, but the current openers are capable at this level. Just need to convert their FC performances into Test cricket. At least the selectors are picking guys with FC runs behind them, rather then 'looks good in the nets' policy. It is step in the right direction. Even though...

Would have been nice to be 0 down, but that was good spell of swing bowling from the Kiwis and deserved a wicket. Good all round day for Sri Lanka. Eranga and Herath stepping up with the bowl. Really good to see the seamers taking wickets. If opening batsmen and bowlers can start to perform it...

That is another option, but will never happen unless they give up on Mathews as an all rounder. They could also drop P Jayawardene as well and play all three youngsters. The extra runs from Chandimal could make a difference over the greater keeping ability of Prassana, especially in Australia.

TBF either do the other two opening options Karunaratne averages 45 in FC and so does Paranavitana excluding Test matches. Though Paranavitana will never be more then decent Test batsmen and they should just play Chandimal and/or Karunaratne at the top. Loving the fact we have players...

The mental thing is starting his innings away from home in conditions that offer more swing/seam/turn then Australian pitches. On Australian tracks in general you don't have to worry as much about significant sideways movement. If you watch the way he bats in Australia he generally goes out and...

Jayawardene and Sehwag are 35 away from SC. Both were getting close to 40 mark before last season and went back down hill. MoYo is an impressive 45 away from SC. There are difference between pitches in Sri Lanka, compared to India or Pakistan. Those difference are one of reason why MoYo has poor...

Averages 40 odd, too lazy to work the exact average including natural games. Bangladesh is the only country he hasn't got a ton. Averages about a ton every 5 tests away. Which isn't that bad, but it on par with other so called home track bullies. - Sehwag averages 44 away, 10 hundreds from 52...

On the original point in this thread. I personally think he has long way to go to be ATG and main reason is his consistency away from home. It seems most people just see the one big hundred in tough conditions away from home and just think he good away from home. Overall he is pretty average...

I think you find as biased indian mentioned they have tired to produce more seamer friendly pitches in domestic cricket and matches were lasting 2-3 days. Same thing happened in Sri Lanka and medium pacer bowling 110-120km/h were dominating not the fast bowlers. You kind of need dry pitches on...

The bowlers are better in Sydney grade cricket then 2nd XI cricket, maybe. I don't he looks handy with the bat from what I have seen. Moses was the same, never could score a run consistently at grade level, but kept turning them out at 2nd XI level.

Yes, the key there is well directed short ball. Not any short ball because of excess bounce from a relatively full length.

I haven't seen any of those matches live of course, but seen plenty of clips, thanks to Rob on you tube and on TV previously. The WACA track no doubt was a lot faster and bouncy back in the 70s, as were all Australian pitches. But weren't Australia just producing pitches to their strength...

Wasn't specifically saying Australia. If you take out Australia in 90s and 2000s and West Indies in 70s and 80s. Both those teams won everywhere they were freaks. But outside those teams, most sides have struggled away from home, because the mind set that pitches away from home are doctored, so...

The main reason why he scores more runs in 2nd XI is that he gets a chance, because the NSW selectors pick 6-7 bowlers in every XI. So all the bowlers bat 2 spots higher then grade cricket, where teams pick proper XIs. But Zampa can bat.
