They do have a point. Lets say we are batting last. We could rest Starc for Smith and extend the batting. If we bowl last we could rest Warner, Clarke, Watson for Cummins, Mosies and Copeland and have 7 bowlers.

The word is the Cummins will play the 4th day of FC match, as Watson and Starc get rested for the test. They don't think he is fit enough to play 4 days of cricket. Though after 2 months of limited overs cricket, if he not fit enough for 4-day, how will he be fit for a Test in a month's time.

We must have different definitions of exceptional. Paine for mine is solid keeper at most. Agree with your assessment of Wade's keeping. Also reckon Paine is better outfielder then keeper. If he could hold bat beyond 50, would be a better bet for the specialist batsmen slot.

Leading Oz coaches refuse to teach doosra

It is bit hard to take wickets with a ball your told your not allowed to bowl in the game. Don't think they will have the issue if they keep getting bowlers to stop bowling it in games.

Paine is not that much better with the gloves.

William Bosisto to captain the alcoholics... Surprised they didn't just name Adam Voges as captain, maybe they realised he is average after 10 seasons. Disappointed we not getting some free runs off Cutting.

It is against Darren Pattinson not James. Still decent knock, though it is on a road, but runs are runs.

Playing Starc vs South Africa and Aus 'A' selection

Bowl like Glen McGarth, isn't that enough?

Should probably have clarified that as Australian/NSW youth levels, not Grade youth levels.

You do realise Starc averages 20 plus with the bat and Cummins recently is batting above Starc at 8 or 9 for Australia and the Sixers. Both played as bowling all rounders in juniors and bat higher then Copeland at grade level as well.

Leading Oz coaches refuse to teach doosra

The same article/quotes from Inverarity has been in every major newspaper in Australia, with different names included. But all the different articles have the same under tone about the 'mystery' spinners in general. Narine is slightly different case, as his off break is also chucky, so it a...

Leading Oz coaches refuse to teach doosra

Does your stock bowl have to be an off break? Loudon's failure had as much to do with the fact he had a poor doorsa as a stock bowl and a generally average off break. You look at someone like Paul Adams who stock bowl wasn't a leg break, but a wrong un and he took plenty of Test wickets...

Leading Oz coaches refuse to teach doosra

The thing is Jason Krejza can bowl the carrom ball with a straight action. It just he has been discouraged to bowl it by Australian officials, because of their traditional approach. Both he and Dan Cullen have also 'bowled' the traditional doorsa. Both have varying success with the variations...

Leading Oz coaches refuse to teach doosra

I was more mentioning the fact that he labelled Narine's and Mendis' carrom ball, a doorsa. Whereas they are two completely different balls. Therefore indicating his care lack of understanding of modern spin bowling. If he thinks they are the same balls, with the same action and flexing issues...

Starc and Cummins are better batsmen, then Copeland. The fact that Copeland captained the 2nd XI side, tells me he will be the one that misses out. Normally captaining 2nd XI usually means you going to have a stint in until a spot opens up.

Will be interesting to see what the NSW side is at full strength minus Moses and Smith. Will the forgotten man Dougie get a game and we play six bowlers. Or will they go for proper XI and pick 5 specialist bats plus Haddin and Watson. History shows we will play all our bowlers. The batting line...

Leading Oz coaches refuse to teach doosra

That slow bowling chart illustrates the short sighted and lack of creatively of non sub continent spin bowling coaches. Where is the tradition variations for finger spinners; arm ball and top spinners. What about left arm wrist spinners. Most can bowl more then just a leg break and wrong on...

Leading Oz coaches refuse to teach doosra

It is a little bit short sighted and clear lack of knowledge, which is surprising from a former spinner to group the doorsa and carron ball together. Anyone can bowl the carron ball without flexing. I always find it strange that when an Australian coach see a good leg spinner, the teach him the...

Looking at the Australia A side, reckon their is real case for Paine batting at 11. Only NCN has batted worse this season, but he has a higher score.

weird side, but it looks like they don't want to pick any guys that might play the test series, a bit of foxing. The rest look like guys they want to try or re-try at International. It is joke that NSW lose two players, but Queensland lose no one. At least they could have pick an even number of...
