The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

So what’s the issue if he views Gilchrist as an AR and he views his primary discipline as batting?

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

Sure, but in this scenario he’s batting at #8. And I’m quite sure the point Kyear is making is that #8 isn’t generally considered an all rounder position. You might disagree, which is fine. But I’m not sure it’s worth the pile on he’s copping here from multiple people. My opinion has always...

Fwiw Imran and Hadlee’s records at #7 and #8 are virtually identical

Who’s argued he’s a better keeper than the guys you mentioned? However, I saw most of Healy’s career, and all of Gilchrist’s, and I can’t recall seeing anything in their keeping vastly disparate (Gilchrist did drop a few at the very end but you expect that). We’re also discussing the #7...

Kyear is perfectly fine picking Gilchrist as keeper over Knott or whoever while also maintaining slip fielding is important because Gilchrist was a perfectly fine keeper. Keeping to Warne and MacGill is a more difficult keeping job than anyone’s had since OReilly and Grimmett were going.

Let’s say it’s a long tour so we have an 18 man squad. I’m gonna go with: Hutton Hobbs Bradman Tendulkar V.Richards Sobers Gilchrist Wasim Warne Marshall McGrath Gavaskar Lara Kallis Knott Murali Hadlee Ambrose

Wasim is the perfect 3rd quick in a World ATG XI. Marshall and McGrath are a level above others, so they get in immediately. Wasim provides old ball bowling ability with left arm variety. Plus some decent intimidation. It’s a no brainer for me, if I wanted to select a team to win a series.

This is the thing with guys like Botham. Looking at raw stats is a bit misleading. And his career had a weird trajectory. Throw Botham in his pomp into one of our mythical contests and it’s highly likely he’ll rise to the occasion and score a very quick ton and take a 5fer. Against elite...

Hobbs Hutton Grace Hammond Barrington Ames Botham Rhodes Larwood Laker Trueman Reading back over the Eng discussion a few pages back, I tend to think this’d be the most competitive option.

Not sure what you’re basing this on, but I can see no real reason why Miller isn’t good enough to be a third pacer in a scenario.

    Michael Slater in BIG Strife

It’s sad, sure. But also horrific for the women who’ve had to deal with him.

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

Probably fair enough. In that case let’s call Grimmett a NZer

Mental health excuses are rolled out constantly when celebrities are assholes. Slater is an asshole.

I’ve always thought that anyone who’d make their way into a NZ all time XI is an ATG It just works

Which type of players are hardest to find ?

Grimmett is absolutely an all time great spinner.
