SA have a huge advantage now... With Steyn and Philander back at Centurion, I think Root's dismissal will be the turning point in the series...

I think the reason he's suffering is that his determined technique has loosened significantly. The two balls he got in Durban were good, the ball from Steyn pitched in the corridor from over the wicket and jagged away and Piedt outsmarted him. Since then, he's got himself out. I think the fact...

To be fair to Cook, he tonned up in an innings win on his first visit so he's had limited success before in SA. Durban and Centurion were/are the most likely grounds for him to succeed given his failures on quick pitches (excluding his rearguard ton at Perth in 2006).

Cook has 60 runs at 12 in this series. If he scores less than 107 in the last 3 innings of this series it'll be his worse ever 4-test series and likely his worst test series by average. I hope this is a hiccup rather than another slump, his last one was so long...

My 2p: England have to crack on and get a lead of 50-100 and bowl much better than in the first innings if they want a manageable chase. Cook can't afford another slump despite his improved captaincy. Ideally needs a score on this tour to get his confidence back for Sri Lanka and Pakistan...

The real damning statistic for Morkel is no test 5-fers since 2012. Granted, trying to take 5 in the same innings bowling first change with Steyn and Philander would be tough for any bowler. Yet, Finn, Stokes, Moeen, Plunkett and Rashid have taken 5-fers since 2012 playing with Anderson and...

England have to take their chance to win the series at the Wanderers. As long as it's a good cricket wicket, it should be quite close given England haven't won on a fast pitch in a test match since their win at the Wanderers in 2004/05. Hopefully, Hales pulls a Trescothick and solves our opening...

Mathews is in the position Clarke was in after Ponting (Mahela) then Hussey (Sanga) retired. Both should be batting at #4 but they seem to have a natural inclination for 5.

I've don't understood why Mathews doesn't bat at 4 in all formats. Usually, the best batsman in the team bats in the top 4. Has he ever been asked?

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

The loudest feminist voices are the ones I disagree with the most. I don't want to be associated with their views. You've injected your own MRA subtext into that quote. My point is that some feminists are opposed to modelling, pornography and prostitution in any capacity. They equate aesthetics...

Do you disagree with anything I've said? Would you rather ask rhetorical questions to emphases the decentralisation of the feminist movement? What relevance does Islam have to this conversation?

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

#NoTrueScotsman I am not a politically correct, regressive feminist. Hence, why I don't call myself a feminist because I'm immediately outcast by the regressives.

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

As someone who previously identified as a feminist, I am aware of the diversity within that group but over the last 2 or 3 years, those with dissenting views within feminism have been ostracised and outcast from academia. Germaine Greer and Christina Hoff Summers are two of many examples. Greer...

I'm still bemused that "disagreement = MRA" in some people's books. If people actually knew what MRAs stood for then they would realise that I'm not even close to being one of them. I disagree with Gayle's actions and MRAs. Before this crazy third wave "kill all white men" crap became associated...

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

I have my doubts. Utility as determined by happiness and suffering. My personal suffering ranking from most to least is: death-mutilation-battery-theft-threat-insult. The state intervenes when speech crosses over into inciting violence or libellous statements or verbal discrimination (racial...

McLaughlin handled the situation well. The only improvement would have been a witty remark like "My eyes are up here, Chris." to punish him. Burning books, how very liberal of you! I suggest you start with On Liberty by John Stuart Mill. Free speech is an agent of truth not social justice. It...

Only if you insist on warping the subtext to push an agenda. Some are acting like this is a social injustice (when it makes a mockery of the term).

Is Chris Gayle some sort of perverted misogynist or can everyone just settle down?

Fool me twice... I was getting my hopes up for a counter-argument. I hope this clarification isn't a waste. "Vote with your feet" was not exactly what I meant, I would revise this to "get out of the acute situation" (by walking away from the offender) and involve management if the situation...

It's all so predictable, Dr Subtext. Disregarding my points for a cheap laugh as confronting them would lead to the most extreme triggering.

I'm going to just going to derail this for just a second. White. White-ness. Privilege. And here I was thinking I had judged you too early, I'm calling you out. The sentence written above is worse than anything Chris Gayle said the other night. Your statement is disgusting regressive racist...
