Bracewell can improve both with the bat and ball, has some skills to work with but that is if he can go back to domestic cricket and learn a bit more and come back in a year or two's time (standard phrase used for younger players) but oh shoot he's already 32 heading 33. Problem only backing...

Johnston on fire, picked up 3 wickets but Mariu standing tall. What a fantastic debut for the lad. Hope he sees them through.

I was thinking they should continue with Macewell till the end of the season in test cricket and see how he goes but seeing him bowl today I can't back that. If you are going to say I am only good enough to bowl to left handers and even then will leak runs that is not going to cut.

That's right Matt is his brother I think, he's a left arm spinner as well. That is ridiculous, I was watching and Van Beek bowled heaps of garbage in both innings but continued to bowl and bowl and bowl. Even on a pitch that offers some assistance and up and down bounce spinners aren't used...

Why do the firebirds skippers prefer club bowlers over test bowlers every time? McComb bowls lot more overs than Ravindra and he starts first here today when you have in your midst a test bowler. I've seen the same with Sears, he'll be the last one called to bowl overs. Why give preferential...

No such rule, anyone can bowl the rest of the remaining balls.

Oh no ... don't tell me. Henry only recently came back after 2 months of lay off.

This is a good move, I feel like the only way we can get Root out is by bowling Bracewell. Got to get Stokes forward though, he's tapped it on the back foot through out the over. This is a 70 meter boundary ground, you can afford to pitch it up. Mis-hit usually ends up a catch.

Stokes has been so lucky today

Blundell doing an unbelievable job standing up. The bounce is so up and down.

I think that's what got us few wickets. They had to stand inside the crease and with the up and down bounce it's hard to control your shots. Even slightly fuller balls feel like good length when standing inside the crease.

I think using Bracewell now should be the way to go. Not later. If he has to bowl it had to be now. You can't expect a spinner to come and change things when there's like 70 or 80 to go. It'll be too late.

Closer the target gets more panicky it will get if we can get one of these. We know both of these guys can walk on fire and come out unscathed but you can't say that about the rest of the line up. There is still like 140 runs to go, the wicket will definitely come. Even if it's like 50 to get...

Damn Southee. Brought back Henry instead of keeping Bracewell on. Should have kept him on for couple more overs, worth the punt. I'm sure Stokes would have kept Leach on if he got smashed like Bracewell.

I still back Bracewell vs Stokes. He's had him like 3 times. I don't think Stokes fancies facing Bracewell. Bracewell can go for another 30 in 2 overs as long as he can get Stokes. I think even Root, he takes it super easy vs Bracewell. We could do with that mindset of Root, even if Root takes...

The only difference I see from then to now is Van Beek is bowling off 14 paces. His run up used to be way longer.

Now the problem for Stokes is he has to slog again and live up to nothing to lose sort of mindset but if required to bat sensibly he may have forgotten to bat sensibly by now meaning which at some point in time he's going to throw the bat and if he doesn't connect he will be gone.

Always knew this was going to be a panic station, no matter what. That was as meek a start England would have hoped for. Panic written all over it. When lots rides on you is when you see the true nature. Sometimes it is important to respect the conditions and game situations.

GP off the blocks this morning quite quickly, taken to Smith and Van Beek. It has to be said there's been some average bowling by Smith and Van Beek but GP has made them bowl average by putting away anything short. Everytime I'm watching any format Van Beek is getting smashed all the time.

Wheels are falling off, this morning definitely been anything but Bazzball. Good old panic station.
