That's just Gavaskar being Gavaskar and giving up at the idea of chasing 335

Rank them as odi batsmen : Viv. Sachin. Kohli

not sure why that matters, though he did do in 70s what Kohli and Sachin never could, match winning performance in the final.

    Ian Botham vs Keith Miller

    Barnes — 30.8% I won't take 1910s-20s ball numbers too concrete tbh

when your average is almost 7 points less with an inferior strike rate while half your career is in flatties era (2000s), you just know you're inferior. Viv was averaging 53 with a 90+ SR in the 70s-80s before declining while Sachin was 43-45 his whole career, Viv is clearly superior.

Rank them as odi batsmen : Viv. Sachin. Kohli

if played more = more competitive then that's just a non-point for Sachin, the quality seems around the same tier, just a lot less batter friendly.
  10. Johan

Rank them as odi batsmen : Viv. Sachin. Kohli

so the case for Sachin>Viv in ODIs is basically fanfiction about era differences?
  11. Johan

Rank them as odi batsmen : Viv. Sachin. Kohli

not really getting the case for Sachin>Viv as an ODI batter, lower career output, lower prime output, doesn't have the final winning knock either.

    Murali — 33.5% Hadlee — 24.8%
  13. Johan

    Ian Botham vs Keith Miller

Miller — 16.2% Imran — 21.8% though tbh this is very dependent on the quality of attack.
  14. Johan

    Ian Botham vs Keith Miller

looking into it Kallis — 12.2 overs every inning on average Miller — 18.2 overs every inning on average Steyn — 18 overs every inning on average. McGrath — 20 overs every inning on average Lindwall — 20.1 overs every inning on average Botham — 21.4 overs every inning on average Imran — 22.5...

Viv is pretty clearly the number one. Sachin vs Kohli is debateable, I'll go Sachin.

  18. Johan

    Jacques Kallis vs Keith Miller

This could use some discussion I think.
  19. Johan

    McGrath. Marshall. Hadlee.

in general, Steyn has supremacy in Asia and McGrath outside Asia, I really don't think Steyn was consistent enough throughout his career to claim superiority over McGrath, and McGrath's ability to chip away the best batters of the opposition mignt be unmatched in the 150 year history of cricket.
