Viv is pretty clearly the number one.

Sachin vs Kohli is debateable, I'll go Sachin.

Kohli above Sachin only because the latter’s century conversion rate even after keeping the era in check is amazing, his chasing record, and the fact he played decently well in both finals(whereas Sachin failed in both). Sachin has the arguement of be a more destructive bat in his 90s peak as a big advantage, but he was also more of a HTB then, whereas Kohli has always had a well rounded record

Viv was ahead of his time and Sachin succeeded across eras.

Whereas with Kohli we still can't be sure if he was just a product of his era. However it's close between him and Sachin.

Kohli’s century conversion rate and his chasing record are unmatched though(AB close in the second regard). Plus Sachin’s failures in both finals can’t be ignored. Kohli also has a 100 in WC SF now

When Sachin and Kohli played together, Sachin was scoring a hundred in every 6 matches, it was worst period in Sachin career and ODIs became more batting friendly since then. Sachin was averaging 50 at 95 SR in that period. So, it is safe to say A young Sachin could have averaged 70 at 100+ SR in 2010s and a Century in every 5 matches.

Basically Kohli is slower version of Sachin.

not really getting the case for Sachin>Viv as an ODI batter, lower career output, lower prime output, doesn't have the final winning knock either.

Sachin played one day cricket in a much more competitive era and was excellent for a much longer period.

if played more = more competitive then that's just a non-point for Sachin, the quality seems around the same tier, just a lot less batter friendly.

Viv had a 9 year run as a top ODI batsman
1979-1987(9 years)
128 matches. 116 innings.
5272 runs @ 53.80 and SR of 90.90

Sachin had a 18 year run as top ODI batsman
1994-2011
388 matches. 380 innings.
16432 runs @ 47.35 and SR of 87.5

when your average is almost 7 points less with an inferior strike rate while half your career is in flatties era (2000s), you just know you're inferior. Viv was averaging 53 with a 90+ SR in the 70s-80s before declining while Sachin was 43-45 his whole career, Viv is clearly superior.

Viv was not a 1970s player. He hardly played any one day cricket in that decade.

1975 - 5 innings
1976 - 3 innings
1977 - 1 innings
1978 - 1 innings
1979 - 8 innings
