Ok Opetaia is truly special. Jack Massey is a huge, tough cruiserweight and that was absolutely dominant

It's just a bad fight for both guys. First fight was tense and enjoyable in the moment but just not something that needs to be seen a second time. Zhang should be screaming for other fights. The Bakole fight is salivating, but him vs Ruiz would also be fun. Parker now being interim champ is...

IBF has ordered Bakole vs Kabayel eliminator. Amazing, amazing matchup. Rumoured to be on the Usyk-Fury 2 card. Meanwhile Joseph Parker still doesn't have a fight. Inactivity really kills fighters at this stage of their career. Even if he can't get a big fight he should at least take a stay...

Beterbiev is on another level IMO. Love Bivol but I think Beterbiev has too many tools, unless the knee injury has ruined him. I think Opetaia vs Massey will be competitive. Massey is a decent fighter IMO.

Yeah ok. There were circumstances. But Hesson, supposedly a the man manager type of coach, had no interest in working with Jeetan. And that to me from the outside looks like it had a lot to do with McCullum. Which is a shame.

Why would anyone like Fleming or Vettori do it. They can and have made millions with cushy ipl or commentary jobs. Why would they take on a difficult full time role that would be widely criticised?

Spot on. Uppercut was an insane punch to be throwing. Simple advice like keep your hands up and throw straight punches would have done AJ a world of good.

Calling for Wilder to retire is one thing. AJ? Still an elite heavyweight IMO. Defensive lapses and bad strategy aside, he's always had way more skill than Wilder and would still be dangerous against any of the top guys. It's heavyweight boxing. Anyone can lose.

Hey maybe this means the Wilder Aj fight will finally happen?

Fights between any of these guys, any matchup is legite exciting and unpredictable. How would Kabayel go against Bakole? Etc etc Just a really fun era for heavyweight boxing IMO.

Ok top 10 heavyweights on CURRENT form 1. Usyk 2. Dubois (better recent wins than Fury or Parker) 3. Fury 4. Parker 5. Zhang 6. Joshua 7. Kabayel 8. Bakole 9. Hrgovic 10. Ruiz Probably Chisora arguably has a shot to be there ahead of Ruiz.

Hrgovic is very frustrating. Looks like he loses interest once he's done throwing 1-2s. Hasn't added anything to his game since becoming a pro.

He also has a few Evan Holy moments recently: - Late enrolment in Vada, then jetted off to Brazil where Vada famously cannot access athletes - Bit of a noticeable personality change recently. Here's hoping this doesn't turn out to be a Ryan Garcia moment.

In any case, I thought that was a defensively careless gameplan from Joshua. A really poor defensive lapse caused the first knockdown. And then he seemed intent on throwing lead uppercuts which is an insane punch to be throwing when you haven't earned it. Where was the long straight right...

Joshua has old wins over Klitschko, Parker, Ruiz, Povetkin. Lately he has a dominant win over Wallin who was at least a top 20 heavyweight. AJ has been at least a top 5 heavyweight for a long time. Dubois has wins over Hrgovic, Miller and now AJ. I just think we're in an extremely entertaining...

It's heavyweight boxing. Literally anyone can lose. Dubois and AJ are both beasts. I do have some questions about what Dubois was doing in Brazil and what the drug testing for this fight was like.
  17. hendrix

    Boxing thread

I kinda agree that Dubois has been given far more opportunities than some other fighters - it was ridiculous for him to ever be mandatory for Usyk to begin with, and then even more silly for him to be given the opportunity against Hrgovic on the back of one half decent win. Kabayel and Bakole...

A win against Hrgovic is a pretty decent reason to be in the mandatory position (he's actually been elevated to full champion btw). But I suspect his leaky defence will be far to much of an issue against AJ.

Talks of Parker-Itauma a possibility. Would imagine Parker would want a big paycheck for that. Some concerning signs in this interview: Bulked-up Parker set to throw his weight around in next fight Reckon even 113 kg is too heavy for him tbh.

Just a little thought exercise. Of all the current heavyweights, I think Kabayel would have the best chance of beating Usyk. Similar fighter to Briedis - good boxing skills, good power, good counter punching, good footwork, excellent body puncher. Able to fight coming forward or going...
