    Sir Garry v Sachin

I didn't think the Indian fans would worry that much about his off field behaviour, but obviously wrong. Sobers certainly didn't have the outside public pressures about his personal life. He partied most nights and often slept in the dressing room. These days there would be pics all over the place

Bit like saying if people don't want to get tickets they shouldn't speed. Common sense and very true but not the way people are wired

It should be CW policy to close any thread as soon as the Sachin sycophants start to dribble their BS This is yet another thread that has lost its way and to my embarrassment it appears to be my post that this clown first responded

Debatable. Certainly played for a long time but not sure that makes him the clear second best after Bradman. Certainly in the mix though

If you can persuade him to send them to me; I think we can make Fred cry Just kidding - we would love to review both, two of my favourite cricketers. I hope Horseshoe is cleared of 'throwing' the last Test of the 1926 Ashes series as suggested by Mr Perry

Good question Fred. I sometimes wonder if I wasn't an Aussie whether I would have Bradman so far in front of the rest. Confident that common sense would guarantee I saw Bradman as the clear greatest figure in the game. He retired from Tests in 1948 and they are writing more about him now than...

In Australia there is no comparison - Bradman miles ahead of Trumper and Miller. Even though I try not to purchase books on Bradman as I already have too many, I have 10 to one Bradman compared to the other two

Round Table was a great idea. I think I was signed up on an exclusive deal to do No. 2 but my screen test led to the whole think being scrapped

Why is a bouncer now called a bumper

Keith Miller & R.S. Whitington call one of their books from the 1950s Bumper. I quite like the fact the commentators are using the word again

    Who was that commentating?

Bit harsh. Carried the attack in the early 1980s. Thinking 1982 - 1984. Was the international cricketer of the year at least once in that period. Not to be confused with the ICC award - this was just for the best player out of the three countries in Australia for each season.

*** Official *** West Indies in South Africa 2014/15

I am quite enjoying the Windies being competitive tbh - nice tight bowling but may change when the quality players come to the wicket
