*Official* Fifth Test (The Oval, London) 27-31 July

Lord knows how bad Capel's Test average would've been without that red inker.

England's 2005 Ashes side vs England 2023 'Bazball' Ashes side.

The one with more Murray Mints.

    Was 2-2 a fair result?

It's funny, I can't recall more than maybe two sessions in the whole series where it felt like Australia dominated, whereas there must have been ten or more where England were miles on top. Yet even so a draw doesn't seem outrageously wrong.

England players and selection discussion thread

Wouldn't be surprised if we get one or two leftfield selections out of nowhere just because McCullum and Stokes like the look of someone, like they did with Josh Tongue. Maybe one of the young spinners coming through like Shoaib Bashir?

    English Domestic Season 2023

Northants have signed George Scrimshaw from Derbyshire on a three-year deal starting next year. Interesting, I'd have thought Notts would have snapped him up like they have every other promising fast bowler from the Midlands.

Could slow over rates be punished by delaying the availability of the second new ball?

So is Stokes going in at three?

*Official* Yorkshire CCC racism crisis thread

They've already gone, supposedly. Along with quite a lot of other players who felt that innocent staff were being scapegoated, as I understand it. IDK whether heavy financial penalties are the way to go either. How would you impose those without any impact on the grassroots and outreach...

*Official* Fifth Test (The Oval, London) 27-31 July

Do the Australian bowlers not have a plan to this pair, even after four Tests? Or are they just failing to execute it?

*Official* England in India 2023/24 #CryMoreTour

*hollow laugh* June here was hot and dry. July, rather less so.

*Official* Fifth Test (The Oval, London) 27-31 July

Was I watching the same Test? I thought Jimmy bowled well. Much better than Broad, who was really poor. And better than Hazlewood or Cummins, come to that.

*Official* Yorkshire CCC racism crisis thread

From what I've seen there's no problem recruiting kids at the lower age groups. Allstars has been a big success and lots of parents love to get shot of their kids for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning. The children love it too. The problem is retaining players through the teenage years and...

    English Domestic Season 2023

The award for most bizarre dismissal of the season surely goes to Roland-Jones in the Warks-Middlesex game. Has anyone ever before been dismissed off a ball they hit for six?

    English Domestic Season 2023

C Overton ct Foakes b J Overton. How many times have twin brothers dismissed one another in first-class cricket?

How many sons of famous cricketers have gone on to be stars?

Raises the question of who was the better keeper: Bairstow or Stewart?

*Official* Fourth Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) 19-23 July

Thought Anderson bowled well today, much better than Broad anyway. He made them play practically every ball and gave nothing away.

    Battle of the Current Commentators

Maybe not Bradman tier but Michael Atherton is certainly an ATG for me.

*Official* Fourth Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) 19-23 July

Crawley's knock has been lucky, but hardly ugly.
