Young players who failed to realise their potential

At his quickest, properly fast -- maybe even in the ballpark of someone like Mark Wood. I saw him in a one day game where Steven Finn was playing and he made Finn look like a medium pace trundler.

Bad cricketers who played too long

    See also Jos Buttler.

Young players who failed to realise their potential

Mal Loye, Mark Foottit, Chris Lewis, Devon Malcolm. And just because they inexplixably never got the chance to play for England, David Sales and Glen Chapple.

    English Domestic Season 2024

Yeah the idea that Lyon was going to be taking five-fors in every innings in April was always a bit optimistic. Lancs' trouble is that without Mahmood they have the trundliest of medium pace attacks, and their batting has been poor. Chris Tremain at Northants took a total of two wickets in...

What are the minimum record requirements for secondary disciplines to qualify someone as an all-rounder?

Does that mean Zak Crawley isn't a batsman? Or Chris Woakes is only a bowler in England?

What are the minimum record requirements for secondary disciplines to qualify someone as an all-rounder?

David Capel sadly didn't meet either. He was still an all-rounder though.

What are the minimum record requirements for secondary disciplines to qualify someone as an all-rounder?

Agree with @Starfighter, it's purely down to the intent of the selection. At England's low point in the 90s and early 2000s they went through a phase of picking "bits and pieces cricketers". Not many of them did much with either bat or ball, but they were still all rounders. It's not that...

    English Domestic Season 2024

I rate Worrall and I'm surprised he hasn't played more for Aus but yeah there's no way he should be in the frame for England.

    English Domestic Season 2024

Then falling on his arse in the comedy dismissal of the round.

    English Domestic Season 2024

Yes he looks a good find. Thought we bowled very well all day and were unlucky not to take more wickets.

    English Domestic Season 2024

Is the AM Vaughan currently playing for Yorkshire's second XI related to everyone's favourite commentator and non racist former England captain?

    English Domestic Season 2024

I remember that game. It was the year Northants were cruelly denied their maiden championship by the unfair expedient of another county scoring more points than us. We conceded 500+ in the first innings, then scored 700+, then Anil Kumble skittled them in the second innings IIRC.

    English Domestic Season 2024

I'm not Rob Key's biggest fan but it does seem that the Kookaburra experiment has worked, in that it's encouraged spinners who actually turn the ball, and true pace bowlers, at the expense of trundlers. Having said that, some of these pitches are so flat you'd struggle to bowl a side out with a...

    English Domestic Season 2024

Derbyshire's Alex Thompson has a ten-fer and obviously gives it a bit of a rip. Next in line for a Test call-up? It might be the camera angle but his action looks slightly questionable to me.

Best bowler to average over 30 ?

This is just a transparent attempt to engineer a thread where the answer is not Jadeja. All I can say is wait til the end of his career and see what he averages then.

Michael Atherton ticks those boxes. Definitely my favourite of the post-Benaud era.

I thought Elgar was down to go to Somerset? Shame he'll be replacing Cook rather than Browne.

Semi Serious Ideas to Re-Invigorate Test Cricket

Legalise ball-tampering, as long as it's not done with a foreign object (bottle top, sandpaper etc).

    Hard Men of Cricket

Will never forget Ricky Ponting copping a full blooded drive right in the mouth whilst fielding at silly mid-off, spitting out a bit of blood and then carrying on.

How the hell does Callum Parkinson get into an England squad ahead of Matt Parkinson?
