    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Just reading that Mark Chapman's 276 is the fourth highest score for Auckland on the NZC site (Margot Butcher does great write ups). I forgot Munro had two big doubles.

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Encouraging to see a couple of half centuries from Foxcroft in this round (he's 53 not out). Didn't play on that Sri Lanka white ball tour and hadn't been scoring many beforehand. Hopefully he's turned the corner.

How do you rate Brian Lara as an ODI Batsmen?

Some others to consider would be Miandad, Haynes and Greenidge who were seriously impressive through late 70's to early 90's. Saeed Anwar also has a remarkably good ODI record. List of ODI tons here. https://www.espncricinfo.com/records/most-hundreds-in-a-career-282935

    England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

Great to be able to watch cricket again at the Backbencher.

    England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

The TVNZ coverage in the 90's used to have a few non-cricketers. Peter Williams, Geoff Bryan and Grant Nisbett. I think Sky took their lead from Channel 9 in Australia who only had ex-players. On the radio Garth Galloway and Ron Snowden are other non-top cricketers who were excellent.

Just told that Smith goes out with Melie Kerr.

I'm surprised his dad never got a Black Caps call up. Seriously good record. https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/patrick-o-rourke-38072

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Unpopular opinion: Bowes deserved more opportunities 💀 His last ODI innings was half century against Pakistan in Pakistan. Smart guy who would continue to develop. That said, I'm a Robinson fan so was happy to see him given an opportunity last season.

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Jacobs for $60k is a pretty reasonable buy imo. Granted it's unusual for an uncapped NZ player. The 13 yr old seems more a marketing gimmick than anything else. Apparently the guy is already in their under 19 side. Will probably appeal to younger fans who see him as the next superstar and sell...

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Good confidence boost for Jamal Todd. 117 off 53 balls with 10 sixes against Wellington A. Then 108 off 42 against Auckland A.

Can imagine him going down the Finn Allen route in a few years time. Definitely has the game to be a big franchise star.

    **Official** 1st Test @ Perth, 22nd-26th November

Some of the days in this series were also pretty one-sided and featured 3 innings defeats. Day 3 in the second test when Pietersen got a double ton England finishing on 620 and Aus 4 down losing Clarke to Pietersen off the last ball being particularly bad but there were a few candidates...

It's not as though Kane has a particularly great test record against Australia either? He did well on the 2015 tour but struggled in 2019/20 iirc.

    England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

Yeah, as well as Young has batted Phillips' all-round value makes him an automatic selection imo. The commentators in India mentioned how many revs he puts on the ball. He seemed to do pretty well with the ball against Australia and the figures mentioned above back up how effective he has been...

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Fantastic catch by Pomare to dismiss Sunde. Jacobs is probably better trying to smash it rather than leaving deliveries.

    England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

Hope so. On his substack Dylan Cleaver discussed a theory that the weight of captaincy and having to drop friends (Wagner) might have contributed to his declining form.

*Official* New Zealand vs Sri Lanka- White Ball Tour of SL- November, 2024

Disappointing for Foxcroft who hadn't exactly been in great form in domestic cricket before the tour either iirc. Still I assume they have earmarked him as part of their top order plans and will stick with him.
