Just like we said would happen. Bajan mafia at work.

That spell showed the difference between the two, in my opinion (apart from the last test where Motie was genuinely awful). Warrican will fire it in accurately all day. But he won't change his pace much, it either turns or goes straight on due to natural variation. In the last test it worked...

In fairness, it was coming. The man edged it just in front of slip or played and missed more times than even we had managed against Mark Wood!

Yep, Fidel was extremely quick. 97mph was his fastest, roughly Mark Wood's pace. I actually thought he was a better bowler when he was bowling outswing at 87 - 90 though. He got carried away.

The quickest I have ever seen an England bowler deliver was Mark Wood in St Lucia. That came at 94mph, so was probably closer to 98mph! That was a quicker spell than the one at Trent Bridge, at least to my eyes.

He also started prioritising white ball bowling. If you look at the decline in his bowling stats, they coincide exactly with his taking up of T20 contracts.

Speed guns in the Caribbean are consistently slower than almost anywhere else. I know this because it records slow speeds for overseas bowlers also. There is no way this is 135kph. In England this would be 140kph plus.

Ironically that is exactly what we did wrong in our first innings against Maharaj. Way too passive.

I'm still hoping that is what will encourage Pooran to play tests, but it will require some flexibility from our selectors and they have never demonstrated the ability to think outside of the box.

At this stage he looks like the perfect guy to come in and dominate at 5 or 6 to me. He has been very lucky so far. But as you said, he is still there and that is what matters.

A bit early, bit this looks like a fully fit Shamar to me......

I would like to see him play a season of red ball cricket, dominate as he always does. I rate him as a red ball bowler.

I'd also add that he was never that good at white ball bowling and yet has constantly been pigeon holed for those formats. He has an insane red ball record and yet never plays. Injuries at the wrong time haven't helped. Another example of us wasting talent.

I hate it when JHo opens the bowling. It is just so damn slow; sets a terrible tone. That is especially true when he is supposed to bowl less now and focus on batting at number 6.

Yeah a rare example where he based his opinion on short term thinking, not the long term plan.

It does feel like SA have won two extremely important tosses. Particularly in T & T, where the first innings was the best time to bat. Hopefully, it will be less of a problem here, but we shall see.

I'm happy with both of those sides tbh. Makes the SA side far more interesting and for us we lacked lots of pace and a fit and firing Shamar adds that in spades. It does, however, make the batting even weaker.

Disagree with him strongly here. Tbf, so did his co-host Santokie.

I see this as a really important test for Alick Athanaze to show he is here to stay. He has had a run of low scores after every other decent innings in tests so far. It is now time to show some consistency.

Anyone who knows spin bowling, knows Motie is a class above Warrican. But one is Bajan and the other is not.
