*Official* West Indies Tour of England, JULY 9th to 25th, 2024-- 3 TEST MATCHES

McKenzie and Athanaze are attacking players by nature but here they are shotless wonders. Kraigg mindset is infectious, not in a good way.

I'm not saying we need to do anything stupid, just adjust our approach slightly. I like your idea of adding Sinclair. We could move Hodge up to 3 where he bats for Windwards and slot Sinclair in at 6.

I have to say our grind ball approach is not going to work in these conditions. They don't look like they are going anywhere. We have to transfer at least a bit of pressure. I'll be fascinated to see what the new chief selector, when they are chosen, does with this batting lineup. Will they try...

True but at his best he plays late with a much smaller gap between bat and pad. He looks even worse than usual. He is, unfortunately, on track to become the worst West Indian batsman to play 100 tests.

Agreed but that gap between bat and pad is asking for trouble as an opener.

Well done Jimmy. Fitting way for him to get Kraigg out. As for Kraigg, he looks in really poor form. Such a big gap between bat and pad. I hope this isn't going to be his form for long.

They are also all under prepared. They spent ages in Australia ahead of the tests. Here they're well short of match readiness. As soon as they lost that toss, it was pretty inevitable given the quality of our batting.

Agreed. Kraigg has been stinking up the place recently. Not setting good tone.

Well that could not have gone much worse. The bowling apart from Alzarri was decent, but wow that lower middle order batting was awful. Atkinson looked good, he has the basics to be a test class bowler. I do think we were a little meek today, even Athanaze was blocking half volleys. They need...

Ridiculous umpiring IMHO. We bat all morning in this light, with the floodlights on. Then when we bowl they don't put the floodlights on and call bad light. This is looking one-sided enough without that sort of rubbish.

I agree Alick will be better at 5, I think he had been batting too high.

England players and selection discussion thread

Honest first impressions of that squad upon reading is that it's weaker than I've seen for a long time, especially on the bowling front. At the very least, without Jimmy after the first test, it is extremely green. Because we're so weak at batting, and I assume the pitches will be flat to suit...

It's not as good as you'd think in England though. Honestly, overseas I just wouldn't play him. He's 36, we need to start seeing what the future without him looks like.

Yep agreed. I'm looking forward to seeing the attack without Kemar tbh. Away from home he has often been a weak performer and it's good to see an attack that could be around for some time.

Match #50- Super Eights, West Indies vs South Africa (N), Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium, Antigua-- June 23rd- Group 2

Excellent summary. Felt like a tournament too soon. We might have won if we had won the toss against England and South Africa and chased, but I think we would have come unstuck either way with those flaws. We need to see young players getting opportunities within CPL now. For a start we need...

Match #50- Super Eights, West Indies vs South Africa (N), Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium, Antigua-- June 23rd- Group 2

It's a shame we were eliminated before the semi-finals, but SA keep finding a way to win, so fair play. If you look at the big picture, we have gone from 9th in the rankings and not qualifying for the previous World Cup to 3rd and narrowly missing out on the semi-finals within a short space of...

*Official* Windies Team for the World Cup

Our bowling attack does have some holes in it and England exploited it really well. That ultimately will stop us winning the World Cup IMHO.

Also Darren Sammy has brought a clear brand and style back that prioritises our big hitting capability right down the order. It might not always work but the guys know the brand to play and it has brought some much needed clarity. I don't think we had a clear style under Simmo.

Greener even! It will be exciting, but Kirk and Alick are both out of form.
