Should West Indies adopt Bazball ?

Gayle played over 100 tests averaging over 40. He paid his dues. He was known for making facetious comments at the time. What happened was the board and Otis Gibson treated him, Sarwan and Shiv like cr@p and forced him to earn his corn elsewhere. Pooran, Dre Russ and Narine are the ones you...

I just don't see the point in continuity for the sake of it with these batsmen. I'd like to see them try stuff and I think Hope would succeed at 7. I can't think of a single one of them who is undroppable. @ImpatientLime describes Hope in the middle order as a Hail Mary. I am done with this...

    let’s remember some guys

He would have been our batting lynchpin if he was playing in the current test team with his average of 33.

Seales is so good. Seriously, that stat is mad. Ramnarine, in particular, was a great loss; he would have been a world-class leg spinner, IMHO.

*Official* South Africa Tour of the West Indies, AUGUST 6th to 26th, 2024-- 2 TESTS & 3 T20Is

Back on this tour, I'm struggling to think of a white ball series more pointless than this one. We've played each other loads recently, we won most of the bilateral t20s, SA won the match that mattered most. Now SA are trying out some youngsters whilst we have basically the world cup squad...

100%. I think it's important to acknowledge that there are systematic problems that make having a world class batting lineup unlikely, but we can at least start selecting the most talented players and see how it goes.

It's Bedingham's first bad series right? So we can give him a bit of leeway.

@SillyCowCorner1 , if you could ignore current selection rules and select a test XI to take on Bangladesh in November, what would your XI look like? Mine would be: Kraigg (no-one else to replace him unfortunately) Louis (deserves Bangladesh after facing England and SA and looked ok at times)...

Bedingham looked loose outside off stump and Jayden Seales eats those batsmen for breakfast (Zak Crawley, for example, has really struggled against him). I've seen him look tighter, so maybe he was trying to be ultra-aggressive against us. Either way, it didn;t work and he needs to go back to...

The truth is there is no-one in our FC set up who has played a decent amount of FC cricket and averages 40 plus. The closest two are Bajan Kevin Wickham (41 after 14 games) and Guyanese Kevlon Anderson (39 after 14 games). Mikyle Louis averaged 50 before being picked but after only 7 games...

I would bring Shai back now tbh. It's not the perfect scenario, with him having failed so spectacularly before, but what do we have to lose? Plus we need some experience in the middle. My ideal scenario would be Shai agreeing to be the keeper batsman coming in at 6 or 7, especially if his knees...

I think they need to pick Pooran and make him say no to tests. Then we all know where we stand. He can then score a gazillion T20 runs, continue to make his millions, and so be it. No one has even tried to select him due to this nonsense rule about playing our FC season. Kraigg plays because...

We have a batting crisis in the region and it is not going to be solved by waiting for people to score 500 runs in an FC season. So I agree, we need to loosen our criteria and start picking batters on talent. If it were up to me, Hope, King and Pooran would be playing tests. Or at the very...

They definitely should average 40 plus imho. I'll be disappointed if they don't. I'm not so sure about Alzarri tbh. He's been playing tests for 7 years now and he doesn't know what line and length to bowl. He averages 35 per wicket. Compare that with Seales, who is so young and yet bowls a...

Yep, Markram and Bedingham both need to step up. Stop playing the shot of the day and start consistently playing the innings of the day. Looking forward to seeing how Stubbs does also. I hope he finds that balance between grinding it out and the attacking he did in T & T. He found it difficult...

I think the batting is the most likely thing to let them down. The bowling is very impressive.

Ah well, the better side won. Congrats South Africa. It was a fun test, very evenly matched and good to watch. We can't hope to win matches like that consistently until we develop some proper batsmen. We have the bowlers. Seales and Shamar are going to be as good as any pace duo out there if...

This will likely sound like a sook. But umpires calls have done us no favours in this test, both bowling and batting. Feels like SA got the rub of the green. But that happens sometimes. We were saved by rain in the first test. Still, it seems like that last wicket partnership came back to bite...

Helpful conditions, brilliant bowling from Shamar, Seales, Burger and Mulder in particular and two pretty ropey batting line ups (with ours being extra ropey). West Indies lowered their intensity for around an hour, the last wicket put on 60 and that will likely prove crucial.
