*Official* Fourth Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) 19-23 July

He chipped in with a wicket a few times that I can recall, but that was basically as much as he ever did with the ball in the Ashes. Plus plenty of times where he bowled a perfectly alright spell but went wicketless. I don't remember him ever putting in a prolonged bad performance with the ball...

How will this series measure up to Ashes 2005?

Hoggard was 16 @ 29.5 vs Harmison 17 @ 32.3. But yeah, most of that was concentrated into the Lords test for Harmison and he was mostly underwhelming afterwards

How will this series measure up to Ashes 2005?

I know we drew, not lost, but he missed a stumping (and dropped a catch too I think) off Warne early-ish in his 90 in the 3rd test. Take either of those and we should win that match pretty comfortably

How will this series measure up to Ashes 2005?

I don't remember the inside edge ones with Katich (not denying them, mind), but I definitely recall him being given LBW to one that had pitched outside leg and was going way over.

*Official* Third Test (Headingley, Leeds) 6–10 July

In hindsight, England should have reviewed that Root drop. Wilson may well have concluded that it was a fair catch

Tamim retires (for one day) from international cricket

Yeah, I rate him as their best test bat. Hope he gets deserved recognition in the future for being as important as he was for Bangladesh

*Official* Third Test (Headingley, Leeds) 6–10 July

IIRC Marsh's bowling has generally been pretty effective when he's played over here, reckon he could end up being pretty important.

    How long can Bazball last?

If you'll excuse the somewhat pretentious choice of wording, I think it will leave a permanent 'legacy' on test cricket. What it's shown, whether it was actually part of a thought process or just something that opting to play hyper-aggresively showed up, is that, from a batting perspective, in...

    Bairstow Dismissal

It is - it's just from ages ago, when Neesham posted on here and presumably before he'd ever played with McCullum. There's a link to it earlier in the thread

    Bairstow Dismissal

Tbh I do think that unless the ball has been collected by the bowler/keeper up to the stumps, you should always run (or go for an additional run) on the last ball of an ODI/T20. There's only a small chance that the fielders mess up a regulation run out and a smaller chance on top that the extra...

Predict the year we’ll see the implementation of AI umpiring

Not AI, but what happened to the third umpire being totally in charge of monitoring all deliveries for no-balls and calling if needed? Is that still happening?

    Cam Green

It's weird becuase in the last Ashes (admittedly I wasn't following it all live) it felt like he was brought into the attack judiciously and more often than not made an impact straight away, so it's not like Cummins doesn't know how to use him

    Bairstow vs Kakmal keeping skills

From memory, when Bairstow had his extended run in the side as wicketkeeper, he ended up being pretty alright. I guess he just doesn't get a lot of match practice keeping when he's not doing it tests, as I think I'm right in saying he doesn't regularly keep in other formats or domestics, so...

    Test Cricket "Hot Takes"

When do you think he'd have got back into the side? Just come in for Head when he got dropped later in the series?

    *Official* World Cup Qualifiers 2023

Sounds like the name EA Cricket would have used for McCullum back in the day

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

    Ahhhhhhh Well batted Cummins!

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

Yeah, at least this has highlighted how the declaration didn't make it any more likely that we'd win. Bairstow and other missed chances have cost us more but those weren't us just shooting ourselves in the foot

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

Lyon's been solid enough to warrant it imo

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

I think I'd still be nervous watching this even if I was a neutral haha

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

Didn't they put on like 60 for the last wicket? They lost by 2 runs, if that's what you mean though
