*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

Should have stuck with the old ball

He might not have been at his best with the ball, but Cummins' batting in this match has been so important. Must be close to the most runs he's ever scored in a match?

Need to get Moeen off ASAP if he looks remotely like relieving the pressure imo

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

Yeah, defensive shots to balls nowhere near the stumps are the worst way to get out

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

Yeah, this is probably his only spell, and it should be a short one if he's giving away a boundary an over

Didn't Geraint Jones of all people have the record for most dismissals in a 3 match series or something for quite a while?

Could feasibly have added another 20 very quickly or so without affecting all that though (although I'll admit that if they'd just declared on 415-8 or something instead I'd still have moaned at the time). Bairstow's misses behind the stumps are a bigger issue, though

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

Yeah, I'm generally of the mindset that if you're considering declaring in the first innings with a set batsman (or two, not that it applied in this case) out in the middle, try for a proper slog first. If you just lose wickets or can't get it away too well, then so be it, a few unproductive...

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

I had him down as a HTB for a while, but he's proved himself to be a genuinely very good player imo. Flaws in his record, yeah, but virtually all good (and even great) players do

*Official* World Test Championship Final at The Oval – June 7–11, 2023

I agree, but I do find it really difficult decide quite how I rate Watson as a test cricketer. I can't take his averages at face value to judge him as an all-rounder because of how often he wasn't/was barely bowling, plus I can never quite work out where to draw the line on crediting him for...

    English Domestic Season 2023

Tbf people might want to see him bat live without wanting to/being able to pay an Ashes Ticket price

Gary Ballance retires from all cricket after brief Zimbabwe comeback

Hick's legacy is that he's he poster child of failing to live up to hype/potential tbf, so not a legacy you'd really want Better than a legacy of being racist, though

*Official* West Indies in South Africa 2022/23

Unnecessary dismissal, but he's probably won them the game (with some good support tbf) from a position where they might have lost. Great knock Edit: My internet is going slow and I thought Bavuma had only just got out, instead I end up posting when Maharaj gets out - I'm not saying the...

The "ok" Meme Needs to Die

This is almost certainly true, but getting an "ok" or similar in response to a post can be annoying/upsetting(?), which just not replying wouldn't be. It can come across as bring a stick for no reason sometimes imo, even though that's nearly always not what the "ok" poster intended

The "ok" Meme Needs to Die

Yeah, this forum is great when we do proper discussions, but it feels like there's more of a tendency towards stuff like "ok" than there used to be and, similar to Flem, it's a part of why I mostly just read the forum these days and don't post much

England test tour of Pakistan December 2022

Yeah, very reminiscent of Headingley actually - good shout. One of those times where I don't think there was much to be lost just by sending out the tail to have a swing and try to get a few more quick runs
