    ***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

He's been called up as cover is my understanding. Mostly for Clarke if he doesn't pull through but also in case one of the batsmen need some more time after what happened to Hughes.

Is New Zealand a better side than Australia at the moment?

Assuming both sides are at full strength I'd say Australia still have it. The New Zealand team is coming together nicely but there are areas that they fall a little too short of Australia for their better parts to make up. In a hypothetical 5 Test Series I'd wager 3-2, 3-1 or 2-1 in Australia's...

    ***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

Heard from the radio that Clarke basically gets to choose whether he's fit or not for Adelaide and that they'll name an extended squad for the first Test.

    ***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

Not that it really matters but I heard Mark Waugh on the radio this morning saying that Phil Hughes was set to replace Clarke for the Gabba Test. Would have expected him to dominate if so.

    Vale Phillip Hughes

I was devastated when I saw the news. Hughes was one of the few cricketers I followed religiously (when not in front of a computer if he was batting I'd be refreshing the Cricket scores on my phone hoping he was still going) and I've never had a non-personal death impact me like this. RIP Phil...

Don't forget shipping between each city Adelaide > Melbourne > Sydney + wherever it's going to end up.

    ***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

This article on cricinfo suggests that Harris will likely be 12th man for the first Test (similar to the first Ashes Test in England last year) and called up for the second Test.

*Official* Road to India in Australia 2014/15

I don't necessarily like it but barring big runs from Ferguson, Burns and maybe (but unlikely) Hughes I'd put money on Shaun Marsh getting the call up. Also assume Watson is the replacement for Maxwell from the last Test.

Predict your countries XI in five years time (i.e World Cup 2019)

Warner Hughes Burns Smith* Doran Mitchell Marsh Whiteman+ Pattinson Cummins Sayers Hazlewood Could see us just avoiding spinners altogether outside of spin friendly conditions. Behrendorff could also be in there over one of the pacers. Hughes will either have cemented his spot in the side or be...

    Australia's Future Fast Bowlers

Not enough love for the Chadd in this thread.

Who would you select at #3 for Australia at home this summer?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Watson retire from Tests before too long given his injury history. If so it makes getting at least one of the "failures" (Hughes, S Marsh, Khawaja, Doolan etc) established in the side sooner than later quite important with Rogers, Clarke, Watson and Haddin all...

If your first XI was unavaliable, what would your 2nd XI be?

(Warner) Hughes (Rogers) Cowan (Watson) Doolan (Clarke) Voges * (Smith) Burns (Marsh) Cooper (Haddin) Hartley + (Johnson) O'Keefe (Pattinson) Bird (Harris) Hazlewood (Lyon) Sayers Could swap any one of the pacers for Behrendorff to give a bit of extra variety to the attack. Voges is...

Who would you select at #3 for Australia at home this summer?

Reckon Hughes could pull off a Ballance type performance against India but doubt he'll get a gig. He's most likely earmarked to take over from Rogers post Ashes.

Who would you select at #3 for Australia at home this summer?

Watson if he's fully fit and has some cricket behind him. Hughes if he isn't. While Hughes has his flaws a home Test series against India is close to the perfect scenario to once and for all confirm whether he is able to cement a spot in the Test team or not.

*Official* Pakistan v Australia in UAE 2014

Smith marked down as batting at 3 by Cricinfo at least. Still pretty poor selections IMO.

Clarke in the Aussie batting pantheon

KP is probably a better comparison than Lara IMO.

The Australian Domestic off season 2014.

Drop Lyon and go with 4 quicks then.

    World Class list

I'd say swap Michael Clarke for maybe Ian Bell (or similar) and you'd be about right. Clarke's definitely ATG IMO(barring a massive slump over the rest of his career).

    **Official** Australian Domestic Season 2013/14

TBF it's hard to choke if you don't get in a winning/dominant position in the first place. Could have been chokers for years but never had the opportunity to showcase it.
