    Would definitely rather Maddinson and Silk opening/playing over Finch and Marsh considering that neither are likely to get a Test call up. Better to at least give the young guys more exposure and look towards the future.

    Replace Silk with Voges or Bailey and Ferguson with Burns and the above would probably be my choice. Doolan would swap batting positions with whoever replaces Silk. The team would probably perform worse than the current Australia side though IMO.

    We've decided to begin recruiting South Africans. This will not only bolster our own faltering batting stocks but decimate English stocks in the process. You'll have this decade but we'll take the next.

    This to me is where the problem really is and not with younger bats not performing since even great bats often struggle when they are young. Clarke's not only our best batsmen but the only reliable batsmen (average 40+) in this age group. Australia really needed Jaques, Watson, Voges, North etc...

    Agreed. Not to mention a ton for Hughes would set him up nicely confidence wise. I suspect they want to give Cowan and Khawaja another shot though. Someone will have to make way for Rogers and Smith (Faulkner being the other one) in the second warm up and it'll likely be one of those two.
