    Greatest Sportspersons/athletes of All Time

Tendulkar has to be there. Only cricketer up until then to feature in the times magazine. Richie Beneud featured him in his 11. Top Wisden cricketers of all time. Hardest era averaged 59 in test. World cup most runs. World cup man of the tournament 03. Most man of the match awards. Most...

Joel Garner vs. Dennis Lillee (Tests only)

Lara never got a hundred against Donald, Wasim or Waqur. Donald made him jump. He was the second best batsman of the 90s era and people regarding him as one of the best, also one of WI greats. Wasim, Murali rate him very highly, even better than the Tendulkar Vs Lara debate. I think even...

    Damien Martyn vs Mark Waugh

Difficult. Both were elegant and classy. Martyn for me. Thought he was more consistent.

Joel Garner vs. Dennis Lillee (Tests only)

Lillee. Excellent fast bowler. A complete fast bowler. Hugely rated by peers. Shouldered the burden. Worked to out think the batsman.

Gilchrist vs Keith Miller - Greater Cricketer

Gilly. World class batsman. Could take the game away. At number seven, opposition still could not sit easy. Excellent keeper.

    Imran Khan vs Allan Donald

Lara had two memorable innings against Australia in WI 99. I'm sure he also scored many many runs in a Sri Lanka series.

    Wasim Akram vs Allan Donald

I say it again. I wish the umpire would've given Langer out when Wasim did actually get him out in Hobart 99. Would have won the match, changed the course of the series and would've been up there with one of his best wickets. A match winning one.

Murali vs Warne, who was better against high quality batsmen on flat pitches?

Warne. He would set the batsman up and try to play games. He will try to induce an error.

    Wasim Akram vs Allan Donald

Some of Donald's impact games: WC sf 1999 wickets. First ever odi against India 91. Vs Aus 92 world cup. Boucher dropped catch 1998 off Atherton. Series in India 2000. Home series against India 92. 5 fer at Lords 94 to set up win. Vs WI 98. Eng series where Atherton saved a test. Vs Eng...

    6th Greatest Test fast bowler

My list in order and I feel this represents the consensus: Marshall McGrath Hadlee Lillee Imran Donald Garner Trueman Wasim Lindwall Maybe they'll swap Garner for Donald.

    Wasim Akram vs Allan Donald

Stats wise, Jayasuriya is a very good example of this. He was a huge impact player and could win games for Sri Lanka. He was a destructive batsman and frightened the life out of fans. People who saw Jaya play knew this. 1996 world cup, 07 WC final, Sharjah 189, his 99 2001 coca cola cup final...

    Imran Khan vs Allan Donald

I think overall Imran just pips Donald which is the consensus here. However Donald was a fearsome frightening quick bowler. A bit like Jayasuriya sending shivers down the spine of Indian fans despite averaging around 33. He was a better batsman and more impactful than his average would suggest.

    Imran Khan vs Allan Donald

First test in India 2000, Donald got two key wickets of the top order and in the second test he got the key wicket of Tendulkar.

    Kevin Pietersen vs Ricky Ponting

Ponting was exceptional. A dynamic batsman who batted in a tough era. However KP could tear an attack apart.
  18. J

    Wasim Akram vs Allan Donald

Just Donald. Many Donald Vs threads popping up now. I just wished the umpire raised his finger when Wasim got Langer out in Hobart 99. Would've been a match winning wicket which he did get him out.

    Dennis Lillee vs Allan Donald

I say it again as a big fan of McGrath, Imran, Wasim. I put McGrath number two/three of all time great pacers. I wanted to bowl like Donald and we were scared of the white lightening. The white cream around his eyes, the menacing look, the aura, the frightening pace, the smiling salute...
