I reckon I would also take Pontings primary discipline, but I don't think there is a comfortable gap. 2000s were very kind to bats. Both of their records need some contextualization.Tight. I reckon Ponting has Pollock beat with some comfort on primary discipline. The question is whether Pollock's useful batting redresses this balance enough to win which I think is marginal. This might be Ponting for his fielding imo.
@Prince EWSSurprised this is close.
Ponting is a borderline top 10 batsman of all time, so for me he wins on primary skill with some ease.
With regards to secondary skills Ponting was one of the very best slip (and overall) fielders of all time, reducing if not eliminating any advantage Pollock would Garner from his batting. There's no doubt in my mind that Ponting's catching contributed and led to more victories than Pollock's batting.
Punter easily.
I too am surprised it's close..... I would take the player who was the better player of spin in turning tracks.Surprised this is close.

Ponting.
I agree with your reasoning but I think Pollock the bowler is underrated, so it's close but still Ponting.Surprised this is close.
