Best team since Waugh/ Ponting’s Australia?

Are we considering all the players in their peak form?

Best team since Waugh/ Ponting’s Australia?

Barring India, Srilanka, Uae, Bangladesh. Thats 4 countries.

    Zaheer, Shami or Srinath

The problem with this argument is that Shami was also averaging below 30 even before Bumrah came in and this attack started shaping up. Also he bowled on some of the flattest pattas in the tour of aus when our pace attack was as strong as teletubbies (according to Botham) and averaged 35, for...

    Zaheer, Shami or Srinath

Ishant Sharma and Zaheer are too close too call, although Zaheer never had a peak like Ishant did from 2016 to end of 2019

    Zaheer, Shami or Srinath

    Irfan Pathan > Zaheer
  7. CodeOfWisden

    Zaheer, Shami or Srinath

Op be like : Zaheer averages 100 Shami averages 10 But yeah their numbers are too close too call. Lol, a difference of 5+ in bowling average isn't marginal, it is huge. Zaheer was absolutely dreadful for half his career, Shami was always a good bowler.

Should the rest of this series just be a preparation for Australia's subcontinent tours?

No You won't have an excuse when you get blanked by 4-0.

    Test XI of the year

Yeah Conway can replace Rahul. He is really good.

    Test XI of the year

Fair point. I just saw that he made 55 and 36 at the gabbatoir. TBF he hasn't played a memorable knock this year and his scores didn't have much of an impact either. I'd rather have Fawad over him.

    3rd Test at Melbourne - December 26 - 30

Night Watchman is the best thing to happen to cricket. If we opened with Shami and Bumrah we could have won the BG trophy first match too. According to me, Whenever you think that conditions are a bit difficult, just reverse the batting order. I once played cricket at 6 am in winter and chose...

    The 'real' Steven Smith question...

Lol, how is it the same. One guy has a record which still stands the other guy's record was wiped clean in a decade. Secondly, even this logic is wrong, coz Dhyanchand has scored 500 goals, the second best is Sohail Abbas who has 348 goals and is a modern day player, Balbir Singh is at no. 4...

    The 'real' Steven Smith question...

The only reason SF Barnes isn't rated as the Bradman of bowling is bcoz he has taken 189 wickets only unlike Dhyanchand who is still the highest goal scorer ever in hockey. If SF Barnes had more wickets than Murali at an average of 16 then he would also be hailed as the GOAT.

    Test XI of the year

What exactly has Smith done this year?

    The 'real' Steven Smith question...

This is a great post. No replies on this yet. Actually I don't think many people consider Dhyanchand as the GOAT player, let alone great most of them haven't even heard about him. Looks like Hockey fans are way more sensible.
  17. CodeOfWisden

    The 'real' Steven Smith question...

Yeah it's quite surprising that England hasn't produced a 50 averaging batsman since matches started getting recorder. Looks like all their legends were frauds who played against 115 kph WBBL level pacers.
  18. CodeOfWisden

    The 'real' Steven Smith question...

Yeah you are right, Burns and Sibley are as good as Hobbs and Hutton.

    Cummins in white ball cricket

No, they are completely different bowlers. The two new balls would have neutralised Waqar Younis though.

Is Ashwin an ATG spinner / player?

Kohli's love for pace bowling helped India set up a pace bowling culture, that alone is a great achievement. Also your reasoning doesn't make much sense, Kohli had the same bowlers which Dhoni had apart from Bumrah, but we were ranked no. 7 in his time, also Pujara and Rahane were way better...
