Battle of the Most Watchable Players

Gower (Elegence) Viv (Aura) Shoaib personally. Just because of being slightly quicker Waugh (Elegence) Thommo (Freak) Sehwag (On song against spinner was something very special) Waqar (Goat)

India Xi vs Pakistan Xi (from 1970s)

I’m thinking like a 40-50 innings ish peak. Australia ofc has O’Reilly and Warne but even then I don’t think it’s gonna match Pakistan. Waqar, Imran, Wasim and then you have Akhtar. Imagine facing all 4 at their peak.

England XI vs India XI (since 1970)

Disagree here. From my memory Ames averaged over 40 in Test and FC (iirc around 45 in FC). Flintoff didn’t average over 35 in anything. Ames should be way higher. Also over 100 100s in F.C. Ranking him below someone like Flintoff is a travesty imho.

England XI vs India XI (since 1970)

Incredible effort to rank the 100. Ames at 82 kinda too low. Especially Having Flintoff ahead.

India-Pak Combined Xi Sehwag Gavaskar Dravid Sachin Miandad Kohli Pant+ Imran* Ashwin Wasim Waqar Combined Hobbs Hutton Hammond Sachin Root Miandad / Kohli Knott+ Imran* Wasim Trueman Barnes Sad to miss Waqar. Mention to Sutcliffe, Gavasker etc.

England XI vs India XI (since 1970)

England’s ATG Xi Hobbs Sutcliffe Hutton Hammond (4) Root Jardine* Knott+ Larwood (3) Laker (4) Trueman (2) Barnes (1)

India Xi vs Pakistan Xi (from 1970s)

Waqar as well. Absolute beast. No Indian fast bowler outside of Bumrah is at the level of Pakistan. Pakistan has probably the best bowling attack of any country if we talking about this type of fantasy matchup taking place at every player’s peak.

The ATG Teams General arguing/discussing thread

Favorite Xi Trumper Jardine* Bradman Sangakarra+ De Villiers Sobers Miller Larwood Waqar Steyn Thomson Waqar, Larwood, Steyn,Thommo, Miller bowling together would be a sight to see. Especially how Jardine would use them. Good luck to the opposition really facing them in a faster wicket. Sobers...

Best bowler to average over 30 ?

Sobers as a quick probably. I doubt if his records purely bowling fast is actually less than 30. Was genuinely more than fine as a quick bowler unlike Kallis.
  10. P

    Brian Statham vs Bob Simpson

Simpson. Could bowl a bit. And from contemporary report most likely the best slip fielder ever, definitely in the Mount Rushmore of slip fielders.
  11. P

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

More like a average of 75-78 at his peak for Waqar. Best bowler ever at his peak imo.

The 4th Greatest Wicket keeper Batsman?

Knott wasn’t a better batsman than Ames.
  13. P

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

Waqar was more destructive. I would have Barnes similar to someone like Murali. Both in the 10 best peaks, arguably top 5.
  14. P

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

I would still say Peak Waqar was the highest level any bowler has ever reached, ever. Not like he failed against any of them really. His Strike rate was insane too, also WPM.
  15. P

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

Peak Waqar was the best bowler ever. Anderson longevity was very insane. Although, Waqar was a different beast.
  16. P

Better batting prime – Ricky Ponting vs Virat Kohli

Sir John Berry Hobbs deserving of a mention.
  17. P

    Denis Compton vs Kane Williamson

Williamson and pretty convincingly too . Can’t believe how Compton is leading 10-4.
  18. P

Kane Williamson not in league of other elite test batters

Root, Kohli and Williamson are definitely in the same tier.
  19. P

    Hashim Amla vs Alastair Cook

Amla easily. Was a absolute beast in Test as well as ODI’s just that his last couple of years makes you forget how good he really was.
  20. P

    Peak Sanga vs Peak Punter

Went with Sanga here. I guess there isnot much to separate between the two.
