    Kane Williamson vs Joe Root

Williamson is a very good player but too much stat padding to take that seriously, cf the SA C team that he battered earlier this year. Nothing wrong with scoring those runs, but in this instance they help hide less than flattering performances away from home.

    ***official***Bangladesh tour of india - 19september -12 october 2024

I would say that they smashed it out the park in more ways than one. I would have given them no price to win the way they did but admired their chutzpah to take it on and just keep going. That India have a bowling attack that can knock over teams so quickly too is an advantage that they have on...

    Virender Sehwag vs Alastair Cook

Lighter schedule? Sure in test cricket, but Sehwag played a heck of a lot in ODIs? Cook was jettisoned (belatedly) from the England ODI team because he stank for a couple of years, even as captain. I give it to Cook as he's a better player in all conditions, although not by much.

Is Boycott closer to Kallis or Sehwag?

I'm sorry but I really find that an odd period for you to use to try and hype of Kallis's s/r in this way given that it was probably only his first couple of years where he struggled as a batsman. I am not disputing that he's a better player than Boycott only that the gap isn't as big as some...

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

They have decided not to pick anyone else at this stage. He probably wasn't going to play although I wonder whom they might turn to if one or two of the quick bowlers do get injured.

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Yep two years ago. They then go to NZ when they played there in March 2023. It is apparently because of the WTC that this is happening but it makes no sense that they haven't gone to Bangladesh since 2016 or SA in nearly 5 years for two. Both would be more intriguing opponents for me.

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

The Curran's are an utterly ambiguous family. Tom born in SA, Sam in Northants when Kevin played there and Kevin was born in Zimbabwe and played for them. Surely Tom must have spent some part of his youth in England too? And apparently the other brother Ben wants to play for Zim. Figure that all...

Is Boycott closer to Kallis or Sehwag?

I'm sorry but that is a disingenuous use of 'around 50' when his career s/r was 45.97. Sure there is a gap and in fairness Kallis didn't really differentiate in opponents in terms of s/r but no surprise that both Banglas and Zim feature s/r closer to 50 than the others. Again, a different era in...

Is Boycott closer to Kallis or Sehwag?

It is one that I actually remember a good deal more. It was disappointing at the time because I felt that a batsman of his calibre had the ability to take measured risk to perhaps get them to a declarable total different. This is where such a comparison is subjective and you can't really use...

Is Boycott closer to Kallis or Sehwag?

Can't find the s/r for Boycott and yes I agree that he was definitely slow, even for his era, but I wouldn't have called Kallis quick, he was circa 46, in an era where many good players were closer to 60.

Is Boycott closer to Kallis or Sehwag?

Sometimes Kallis could have been seen to be that way, especially in the 5th test of the SA v England series in 2004/5.

Is Boycott closer to Kallis or Sehwag?

I simply don't agree that bagging loads of runs against weak bowling to boost the record does what you think it does. In a different era, where Boycott played fewer games and a higher proportion of his matches against the best teams, Boycott's record stands up well. We simply don't know exactly...

Is Boycott closer to Kallis or Sehwag?

I don't believe that Boycott is a full tier behind Kallis. A bit behind but not so far. Kallis had the chance to boost his number v Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at the start of those countries test playing years, when often they were so way behind adequate test match level. He averages 79 v Banglas...

*Official* New Zealand in Sri Lanka

There are a couple of those, Mathews and Chandimal who you wouldn't have thought would have that much longer left. It is more that they have enough players of a decent enough and younger age as well as good enough pace bowling options that they should at least be more competitive at home and...

Is Boycott closer to Kallis or Sehwag?

Different eras and had to play against high quality Windies and Australian attacks at different times. Boycott played quite a high proportion of his test v Australia and West Indies and his record stands up to scrutiny. He averaged 47.5 v Australia (45 away). 45 v West Indies and 51 away. There...

I would be surprised if Sky want for that much more. Their big expenditure is on EPL, it is a disproportionate amount of what they dish out for sports coverage.

List of English international cricketers born outside of England - Wikipedia Joseph McMaster apparently. I knew about McCague and Rankin, but wondered if there were more and he was the 1st of the 3. ROI has 5 overall.

    Better cricketer? Kane or Shakib

Shakib has a poor batting record against quality teams. He also has a poor record with the ball against Asian teams generally, averaging over 40 against Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka. Williamson's issue is playing high class pace attacks away from home.

    ***official***Bangladesh tour of india - 19september -12 october 2024

My cap is well and truly doffed to India for this. I thought that they might have a bit of a go to see if they could unsettle Bangladesh, but to do so in this manner. Fantastic! That's all I can say.

    The Hundred could be scrapped

It sounds a bit of atypical self-aggrandisement from him..........
