  • Hi, just wondering how you're getting on with Trophies and Tribulations. I'm enjoying it (up to 1982 now) but I wasn't sure how much interest it would have to someone from outside the county. I'll probably have my review done in a couple of weeks if that helps you at all - David
Wouldn't be so sure - took ages for people to notice with Gelman, and lots of people said they only did when Craig made a thread about it. If you'd like to try it, I'd go for the ask, TBH.
You said a few minutes ago:
"So my view is that my postcount should go but everyone else's should stay"
FTR, Gelman did get rid of his from his postbit (could still see it when you clicked on his profile) when he was on the staff, so I don't see any reason why you couldn't do similar, if you actually wanted to and weren't joking in the above quote, which is difficult to tell. Just have a quick word with James.
It's a pretty nice road from the looks of things, has a distinctly less dodgy feel to it than where I am currently. But yeah, a lot closer to the Law Dept which should benefit me greatly. Tenancy doesn't actually start until August either which is good, means I won't be paying rent over the Summer whilst I'm back in Newbury.
Ended up going for a house on Foxhill Road, the alleyway to the flat on Highgrove looked pretty dodgy at night time we discovered, the fact that there was a hell of a lot more graffiti there than when we first looked also put us off somewhat. Thanks for the help though (Y).
Hey Fred, just want to say thanks again for all the assistance you gave me with the TWC quiz. I've put my final answers on the forum if you or anyone else was interested.
Just getting back to you with your suggestion for 41, it appears as though he took his fifth wicket sometime during his twelfth, or at best eleventh over. But I've now found an answer which I think is correct for 41 where the bowler looks as though he took his fifth wicket with the last delivery of his ninth over or first one or two of his tenth, which seems very likely to be secondary to Broad.
For 23 I don't think its that year - by analysing the scorecard and match reports it seems as though the sixth wicket fell after 155 minutes and I haven't found anything to suggest that first sessions of a test match have ever been longer than 120 minutes. Will look into your suggestion for 41.
That would be a brilliant answer and I suspect its absolutely right. Not being in the UK has its disadvantages and having no knowledge of UK stamps is one such problem!
37 - should I sell the answer to the highest bidder?

happen not - the answer I strongly suspect relates to tyheir appearance on a postage stamp - from my limited knowledge of UK philately I reckon they are probably the first living people whose image appeared on a UK commemorative
Indeed. If you're interested I've posted up the final four questions on the forum which I haven't locked in answers for - the other 37 questions I'm very confident with.
Sounds like your cricketing knowledge is in hot demand around this time of the year Fred!
    Hello Fred,
I came across this forum while doing the wc quiz and see by last years exploits that your knowledge seems second to none. I was wondering whether this isn't too cheeky or you could help me with 1 or 2 of the connections ones 28 and 31/32. thanks Peter
Hi Fred - sorry, tried to send a message last night but PC crashed, so not sure if it went or not.

I was basically saying thanks for the thoughts and then moving on to those where I have no idea!

    Being 32 / 35 / 37

    Any thoughts / clues appreciated

    Cheers
