Cricketer Of The Year
You have still comprehensively failed to list anyone who had a comparable body of work (or lack thereof) before entering Test cricket to Konstas and genuinely made a early success of it. Nobody. Not a one.My God you're dishonest. First up your "point" is a bromide to console yourself for being shown up. The practice has been consistent, if occasional or rare throughout cricket history. So you can't rely on your point, not that it was valid in the first place.
His Shield record before Tests for those wondering:
10, 23
26, 35
4
57
152, 105
2, 43
28
39, 14
88
Then in the A series:
0, 16
3, 73*
So that's 718 runs at 42.23. Now that's impressive for a 19 year old rookie, but still nowhere near enough runs in total to justify a Test callup, especially when over 36% of those runs came in one game
A young bat needs more than one good season to truly demonstrate they know their on game in this modern era of cricket. Exposing tsuch a player to the cauldron of test cricket and all the related attention and scrutiny is just not the way to do things. And no, citing players who played generations ago in a a place with a sparse at best FC system (the old West Indians especially fit into this category) is NOT relevant
