6th Match - Bangladesh v New Zealand

honestbharani

Whatever it takes!!!
Maybe batting second under lights wasn't a great idea, batting is looking tougher now, I thought it was supposed to be easier.
It always does a lot in the first 10 when chasing under lights here but it settles down. And gets far easier to bat once you are past the first 10.

If Young was dropped he should feel extremely hard done by. He's been literally the mainstay of the batting line up for the last year when players have been off doing T20 leagues, rested, injured or dropped. But where do you draw the line? Statistically it's Mitchell: https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/e...al1=span;team=5;template=results;type=batting

But if you go to games this year, Young's back on shaky ground: https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/e...al2=span;team=5;template=results;type=batting

in short, Kane should be dropped rested from the next match, with Conway and Young in direct competition to open, Ravindra to 3 and Mitchell back (assuming he's fit).

Not something I thought I'd be writing in 2022, but it wouldn't be a stretch to call Macewell NZ's most important ODI player (from a "balance to the side perspective").

Him being injured during a 2023 WC definitely made NZ the lesser side - Chapman could do little as a batter at.no 7 and Neesham's bowling was a massive downgrade.
Yeah Macewell being unfit in 23 was a huge loss. If he's fit I think NZ likely finish 2nd or 3rd in the group phase rather than 4th

Did what they had to do New Zealand, but can't be happy with the 22 wides & I thought Jamieson was just okay but hopefully better for the outing. If both O'Rourke & Jamieson are playing I think I'd prefer O'Rourke taking the new ball with Henry & Jamieson 3rd seamer.
There's no point in playing Jamieson if he doesn't take the new ball. In any event I would've opted for Duffy who looked sharp and accuratw running into the tournament.

Well played NZ, guess the tournament *really* starts from here on.

Dont think Bangladesh put their best foot forward at all, but as a new ball pair Taskin and Nahid are great to watch.

Dylan Cleaver: Bracewell is the Swiss army knife of the team. In Rawalpindi it didn’t turn as much as it did in game one, so he bowled a bit quicker and flatter. In Karachi, he gave it a rip. It shows how far he has come that he can toggle between modes like a Santner, who has been bowling spin all his life.

He's been fantastic so far with the ball, but I don't think India, Australia or whoever else NZ face from this point will treat him with nearly as much respect or ineptitude. First major test for him (and NZ really, aside from SL in their own backyard) in ODIs in a very long time, coming up.

Yes the true test for NZ will be when they come up against players who expect to score at 100 SR no matter where they play ..

Why don't you drop Philips? He is not a human and being an outlier with that average while the others all average what a normal batsman should do.
