Not something I thought I'd be writing in 2022, but it wouldn't be a stretch to call Macewell NZ's most important ODI player (from a "balance to the side perspective").

Him being injured during a 2023 WC definitely made NZ the lesser side - Chapman could do little as a batter at.no 7 and Neesham's bowling was a massive downgrade.

Bracewell with another wicket, he has bowled well but he has been helped by some pretty poor batting from Bangladesh.

They need old man Mahmudullah to rescue them again.
