It has been interesting watching a T20 on a wicket that actually spins for once.

this exact game last season was a ****ing shocker coz of how much it spun

Yeah that tidbit from the ball tracking surprised me a lot but now that I think about it, it actually makes sense. We all complained about Cummins bowling so many half volleys on that first day and getting driven so much, but usually you expect that to work in Perth - yet they just skidded on nicely for easy runs.

Yet again the lack of consistency year on year from the curators continues to be a problem.

It doesn't surprise me as much when it had a fairly thick mat of dying grass on it. I wouldn't be surprised if the data showed it was significantly bouncier on day one than the other days.

I find it disappointing the groundsman has not been able to replicate the hardness from the first couple of seasons (like the 2018 India test). When the old WACA wicket was really renowned for its pace it was known for having relatively little grass and being so hard spikes often wouldn't go in.

It would help if they actually put them as far back as possible. In some matches there's enough room between them and the actual fence to race horses.

Big outswing at 144 km/h from 6'8" is pretty handy. It's a shame Stanlake's lack of fitness and control has meant we've never got to see those ingredients properly used on the test field.

But seriously, it is mysterious. Pretty sure they can have three overseas players in the XI. They need some batting power, and Harris isn't gonna provide it. Probably pig-headedness as much as anything.
