Scorchers need a minor miracle from here. They sure aren't the force they used to be.
They lost Evans who was good previously, Hardie has been injured, unable to bowl and out of form, Inglis has been in the test squad then injured, Allen has been too unreliable and age has caught up with Tye.

With the lack of squad stability, form players and reliable operators they've had previously it's little surprise they're struggling. When they won in 22/23 all of Bancroft, Hardie, Turner and Inglis stacked on runs and Tye took heaps of wickets while the other pace bowlers all averaged under 20.

Hardie is like Mitch Marsh lite. ironically theyre in the same team. Ironically both cant

a) Bat
b) or Bowl

which is what u want from an all rounder.

allen doesn’t seem suited to what has been a successful team Blueprint

Unironically makes me feel a little better about how Konstas might go in SL that he's managed to top score on this thing
Yeah but:

Konstas vs pace tonight - 35 (18)
Konstas vs spin tonight - 18 (24)

Good that he didn't just get out to it straight away though I guess.

Looking at previous years' figures the one thing that stands out is the consistent strength of Perth's bowling. They haven't had that this year. I reckon the Perth wicket has been slower and lower too - Cricinfo mentioned that the ball tracking data from the Perth test showed that pitch was actually fairly low bouncing, which favoured India's bowlers. While the BBL pitches have been much less grassy, IMO visiting batsmen haven't struggled as much the pace as they have previously.

Yeah that tidbit from the ball tracking surprised me a lot but now that I think about it, it actually makes sense. We all complained about Cummins bowling so many half volleys on that first day and getting driven so much, but usually you expect that to work in Perth - yet they just skidded on nicely for easy runs.

Yet again the lack of consistency year on year from the curators continues to be a problem.
