Can anyone explain the logic behind Pakistan's attack? Spinners just that bad? Two guys who can't reach 130, and Jamal being a bit of a no-rounder.

It’s always something innocuous looking when you do in your ankle. I had a grade 2 tear this year by simply blocking a shot in my local indoor league. What a shame, he has been the best batsman on show this tour.

Masood saying that Jamal balances the side by being the allrounder at 8 really didn’t make sense to me. Nor did wanting 4 pacers to bowl long spells.

I have to say I'm mystified at that as an outsider. When the home team has been clear about playing a spinner from some time back, you would have thought that with recent success of their spinners, that Pakistan might want to play one of them, given that pace bowling is currently not exactly their strength.

I was too chicken to state my opinion on Jamal immediately after the Australia series, but I don't see him being successful long term. He took wickets by bowling the odd unplayable delivery amongst absolute junk. The problem is that if he's not getting wickets he's letting the pressure off. And he's not really an allrounder, more of a decent no. 8.

The fact Pakistan don't trust any spinner on a pitch that isn't a bunsen is a major problem for them. I was hoping Abrar might get a longer run, but he probably doesn't spin it enough, and Sajid's action just isn't solid enough to give him the control he needs.

While I realise we're not in the Faf 'greenest pitches possible please' era anymore, I still think that if SA are playing a spinner, opposing captains should consider that it's a fair bet that one's probably going to useful.

What's up Pakistan droping shaheen and naseem from playing in conditions that are favourable to them? Instead they play them on Pakistani highways
I think in Shaheen's case it's a conflict with management. He's given the impression of being disinterested in test for ages and his pace has slipped right back despite it being a long time since his knee injury. I have less and less faith each series of Naseem coming good. He's lost his outswinger, and rarely reaches the pace he's capable of. He really should have done better last test, but I still think he should be given chances in better conditions.

@Starfighter , that's a great point with regards to the trust in the Pakistani spinners from their own team/captain. He didn't even use Salman in the last game did he? Went to Ayub when he wanted some spin. Prabath Jayasuriya recently had a very decent tour of SA.
