Tbh it's another really stupid method of rating players...... Arguably Sobers wasn't the best at any moment as well. Many a times many great players just have a coinciding peak really. Not being the best of an era shan't be the argument against "Mr 2" of cricket.

According to Peterhrt, there wasn't any distinctive opinion split between Sobers and Kanhai till 65, from when many rated Pollock the best. If his main weapon of reason for things like Barry>Gavaskar is that Barry was the best for a 5 year period undoubtedly (which he wasn't really, imo Pollock was better over that period), then according to the same write-up, Sobers wasn't inarguably the best ever.
