I wasn't really following the inner politics or conflicts around covid time but whoever decided to give fatso the captaincy in test cricket was an absolute braindead decision.

I really don't remember what happened around the time.
Yeah , time has come for split captaincy in Indian cricket . Can’t have same captain for both formats .

To think Rohit wasn't even a guaranteed pick till the middle of the last Aus tour yet was undisputed captain inside an year or something. I'm afraid this episode will keep repeating until Indian cricket is bled dry of the word "senior" and the privileges that come with that association. But that's a wider cultural issue in general.

I thought thats what Gambhir was brought in for but he's turned out to be the biggest kiss-ass of them all.

If Gambhir was still a 'pundit', he would be the first person to call out Rohit and ask him to step down. Sad really.

Regarding Kohli, I would say this is global problem and not tied to just Indian cricket.

Kohli's popularity has outgrown the game just like Messi and Ronaldo. All the sponsors and corporations that have tie ups with him have vested interests. They want him to play as long as possible regardless of how **** he is because he brings viewership and attracts big crowds.

Look how Portugal still see 40 year old Ronaldo as undroppable from their national team. They're arguably a much better side without him, but sadly it's all about money these days.

It sucks but it is what it is. No one in India will have the balls to drop Kohli. He's going to go on his own terms.

is it only me who thinks the technical team took unusually long time on the replays before going to the snicko . It almost looks like they had access to snicko all the while, but showed it at the very end, after enough visual confirmation on the side angles. Nevertheless, it is clearly out in my opinion.

Not being sinister, but there is clearly manipulation from the technical team.

Rahul's dismissal, there were no conclusive visuals shown, in fact it was just half a portrait shown and immediately rushed to snicko .
Jaiswal's dismissal, huge time spent on multiple angles to the point of boredom, and then going to snicko at the very end.

Both times the technical team had access to snicko straight away, but chose to manipulate the opinion based on the advantage to Australia, based on snicko output.

the audacity of saying this after Joel Wilson was India's most valuable player over Bumrah this game

Rohit as a garbage captain doesn’t stop Kohli from scoring runs . When was last time Kohli played domestic matches ? Guy spends his free time in London. No wonder he can’t score any runs in Australia just like other English batsmen.
Very good from sunilz here

He is a really talented umpire. Without much formal training and all, he came up the ranks officiating bd domestics and mostly white ball international cricket in BD. His inclusion in elite panel was kind of a surprise and made some really good decisions this year. He is officiating on field in 5th test which is probably his biggest match in his career.
Does he have a back story where his parents sacrifice everything so he could make the elite umpiring panel? The media needs these things

I think India's most obvious deficiency is being overlooked as fans choose to deflect by blaming Kohli, Sharma and Pant (wtf?).
Indian fans need to adapt their Gambhir game. Things are different now that Gambhir is the coach. Fans will have to try things out in the nets to find out what now works before the next test.

I will say that if Jhye has to come in for Starc (or Starc plays half-crocked) that I might prefer Edwards to Webster now. But Webster's been in the squad the whole time so if the change should be straight forward.
I prefer Edwards, Neser and Sutherland to Webster but they’ll pick Marsh anyway

Wasn't Rahul very clearly caught at slip?

And Jaiswal was out. It's actually very clear once you settle with yourself that not every caught behind dismissal needs a spike on Snicko

I was referring to Rahul's dismissal in first test at Perth, caught by keeper. just pointing the double standards in using technology, as it suits.

Jaiswal is clearly out based on visual evidence shown, no arguments there . In case of Rahul, he was denied investigating more visual evidence , when clearly even the half portrait shown live was crying gap between the bat and ball. Snicko was rushed and decision was clearly based on so called 'non mandatory' snicko .. why the double standards.
