Good one from Sunil gavaskar. Keep the extra pressure/ Mind game on Australian. They are feeling the heat. Before the series ,everyone was predicted 5-0 / 4-0 series win for Australia.

Australia are very disparates to win a series against India since 2015 so please looks at the Australian players pockets as well during the Game . :no2:

It's pretty clear that if Aus manage to negate the opening duo, they can possibly make hay against somewhat wayward Harshit, trundler Nitish and Sundar.

Just to get an additional 30-40 potential runs from Nitish in batting, India are risking 'conceding totals' that are significantly more, possibly 100s of runs more than they otherwise would be with a proper 4th wicket taking bowler like Akash or Ashwin. I still can't get my head around it. It defies logic.

Harshit can be handy at 8 (Has a FC ton)
Akash at 9
Bumrah
Siraj

It's not as bad as when India had
Shami
Umesh
Bumrah
Siraj / Ishant

Certain far better than
Prasidh
Mukesh
Bumrah
Siraj
vs SA earlier this year.

This is one match where India ought to be aggressive.

Its two way street .

Four fast bowler that includes Bumrah ,Siraj, Harshit and Akashdeep is perfect combo but lets assume we are chasing 230 and lost the 6 wickets for 160-165 runs, at that time we would have think dropping Reddy can cost the runs chase .
But i get your point about all out wicket-taking bowlers over Bits and pieces player's .
Sundar and Reddy are batting allrounder and we needs bowling allrounder.

Using your eg, if we play Nitish instead of Akash, the target goes up to 280+ instead of 230. So having Nitish the batter we likely have to chase bigger targets.

I agree it's a two way street. But this time, unless the conditions are super lively for bowling, I think India is making a critical mistake just because they happened to win with the same bowling combination in the last test. Plus Australia will be more prepared

India are making mistakes because they remember the horror of 36 and 46 all out . They would have lost even first Test if not for extra batting cushion provided by Reddy . Just accept that we are not a perfect Team and we will have to make some compromise in team composition.

Both team's batting are struggling at this time so four bowlers are more than enough and certainly for pink ball test where batting will be a lot difficult . We can Play Ash+ jadeja combo for last two test match at MCG and SCG respectively.

Let's then hope that it's a lively pitch or that our pacers can extract sufficient assistance to not have to rely on the overs by Nitish. Fingers crossed.

I had a nice laugh over this 😀

"Indian cricket icon Sunil Gavaskar has branded Josh Hazlewood’s omission from the Adelaide Test suspicious, suggesting it was related to the champion paceman’s divisive comments rather than injury"

That's probably what he would've done in his day as a batsman/captain if his batting order failed, and one of their bowlers criticized them
