**Official** 2nd Test @Adelaide, 6th-10th December

Test fan

U19 Captain
KL
Jais
Gill
Virat
Pant
Rohit ( no option)
Jadeja
Reddy ( bowling is useless but can score some handy runs with tails)
Akashdeep/ Rana
Siraj
Bumrah

Sundar is very ordinary bowler for these conditions so Jadeja should have prefer ahead of him .

Out of the blue, if Rohit comes in and gets a century, that will be a slap in the face for all of us. But looks impossible currently. He is just good for an odd quickfire 50 in this series.

I noticed Harry Brook just hit his 7th hundred in 36 innings. Here are the number of innings since each Aussie bat last scored a hundred

Khawaja - 26
Smith - 24
Marsh - 20
Labuschagne - 19
Head - 9

So two ways to look at it, (1) all the top order are due so Aus should get a big score, or (2) Aus top order is cooked and hopefully Head and Carey pull them out of the 💩

They have to leave grass for the pink ball to work and retain its color for longer.

There's some rain forecast for day 1 as of now, though it's expected to clear up around match time..

Just saw some highlights of Jaiswal against the pink ball. Aus would do well to keep a very fine third man to him at all times against the seamers. The ramp's a good enough reason but the guy also tries to thwack it impulsively over midwicket and inevitably sends it soaring behind the slips on these bouncy seaming wickets.

I would love to see both Jadeja and Ashwin play in the pink test but thats probably just wishful thinking. Still India really should be going with their best 4-5 bowlers. it's a common misperception that pink ball only helps seamers. Ashwin took 4 wickets in the 1st innings last time around. So I don't understand why they wouldn't play him.
(and apparently both Jadeja and Ashwin bowled well in the nets).

Maybe they are keeping it a secret. Bumrah and Kohli also didn't come out to play in the warmup match.. Like Bumrah and Kohli, Ashwin was also part of that Adelaide 2020 test. Only these 3 played in that match from the current squad. Go back to 2018 Adelaide Test and Ashwin took 6 wickets at a very low economy. So he knows Adelaide.

We might get stuck with Nitish Reddy as bits and pieces all rounder unfortunately (no disrespect to his performance with bat in Perth).

It's ridiculous. Bumrah bailed India out in Perth but suppose he doesn't have a good outing in Adelaide, how is the rest of the attack going to take close to 20 wickets own their own? I just don't see-
Siraj + Rana + Reddy + Sundar taking close to 20 wickets. Whereas if the attack without Bumrah was Siraj + Rana + Ashwin + Jadeja, you can still expect 20 wickets.

So India must factor in Bumrah not doing so well. Why only factor in top 6 doing crap and having Nitish Reddy there as backup batter? Why not factor in underperformance from a critical bowler like Bumrah. Otherwise it's basically Bumrah or bust. FTR he only got 2 wickets in Adelaide last time. Going in with 3 genuine wicket takers + 1 half decent inexperienced spinner in Sundar + 1 part timer in Reddy is terribly negative tactics, when you must take 20 wickets.

Ashwin shouldn’t play and most probably won’t.
We can replace Washi with Jadeja but even that isn’t needed.

The lineup would be

Jaiswal
Rahul
Gill
Kohli
Pant
Rohit
Washington/Jadeja
Reddy
Rana
Bumrah
Siraj

What if Cummins has a bad day, who takes wickets against India from their side then?

All team rely on their main player, a certain GOAT Aussie team lost the ashes when Mcgrath stepped on a ball.

Siraj did well last time in Aus too when he had no support, Rana is new but talented, we got to rely on them.

Also how does it make sense to play two spinners in a pink ball test at adelaide, the pitches there are not even known for breaking up later in the tes?

Seems silly when Ash was the guy who did the most damage in the last pink ball test we played there.

Australia are playing with 4 proper wicket takers, unlike India with just 3 genuine wicket takers. So Australia can afford Cummins not doing so well.

Lyon has a better record with the pink ball than certain pacers. So it's a big misperception that spinners don't take wickets here. Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers last time with the pink ball!

It's not like Nitish Reddy bowling at 120-126 is going to be of any help here. He is there as a batter primarily, so you can have Jadeja as his batting replacement and Jadeja's bowling can be a bonus. And have Ashwin as the main spinner to make use of the overspin.

You don't need the pitch to breakup. The extra bounce / overspin keeps spinners in the game. The drift as well.
