**Official** 2nd Test @Adelaide, 6th-10th December

Lyon has a better record with the pink ball than certain pacers. So it's a big misperception that spinners don't take wickets here. Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers last time with the pink ball!
What certain pacers would that be?

Starc, 7 Tests 39 wkts @ 16.64
Hazlewood, 5 Tests, 28 wkts @ 18.42
Cummins, 3 Tests, 13 wkts @ 21.76
Lyon, 7 Tests, 28 wkts @ 23.85

Boland, 1 Test, 3 wkts @ 15.00
Marsh, 1 Test, 3 wkts @ 23.66

Rohit is potentially the new Dhoni, watch India lose 3-1 or even 4-1 from here. Have a pretty bad feeling about the rest of the series.. And it's mainly because of this lazy entitled **** captaining the side.

Anyway I was looking at the scorecard from the last outing in Adelaide in 2020 and noticed how drastically the side has changed. Only Kohli and Bumrah remain from that Pink ball Test.

Vihari never quite making it is such a shame, its impossible to replicate Pujara in this t20 era, but he seemed the closest to it and unfortunately he just wasn't good enough despite getting the opportunities.

But heh at least he will always know he played a key role in winning such a historic series for India .

Shaw is still young , but he's just a bust isn't it now?[/QUOTE]

We should stop looking gift horses in the mouth and be glad Siraj, Rana, and Reddy acquitted themselves as well as they did. From Australia's pov, their batting's mostly in shambles while Starc seemed to have reverted to type in the second innings, Cummins has been off the boil for a while, Hazlewood's missing, and Lyon was neutralized. Obviously everything and everyone can do a 180 but on current form India would be disappointed to not go 2-0 up in Adelaide.
Still India should play 4 proper wicket takers. I think they are going a proper bowler short by playing both Sundar and Nitish. Bumrah and Siraj may get it done again by picking up the top 6 but in the event they don't, can Nitish and Sundar take middle order wickets? Can they dismiss two of Head, Marsh and Carey once the three pacers have bowled 2 spells each? I don't think so. Whereas if you had Akashdeep or Ashwin as the 4th bowler chances go up drastically. 7 batters + 4 proper bowlers.

Yeah I thought Vihari was going to be good for us at one point. iirc during the Kohli - Smith interview Kohli said he rated him the highest among the new batsman.

Shaw is done for now. Struggling in domestic cricket, not picked in the IPL, dropped for fitness by Mumbai… it’s not looking good.

If Marsh is playing as a batter only, then Webster probably comes in for Labuschagne? But then who would bat at 3?
God willing Marnus gets the punt

If Marsh and Labushagne both play and Marsh doesn't bowl, then there's a very good chance Abbott plays in Brisbane given they'll be carrying only four bowlers and the next test starts only a few days after this one ends. Unless Bartlett or JRich are seen as fit enought to leapgfrog him.

Would think Abbott's ahead of Doggett in the pecking order.

Vihari applied himself when he batted and had some knocks that were crucial but he just wasn't good enough.

I don't think his ranji numbers were much this year, so while still young at 31 he probably won't ever play for India again.

Shaw is young thankfully, but I do remember back in the day saying " Umar Akmal has the talent and he will figure it out" and yeah so who knows with him also .

He's also the oldest looking 25 year old Indian I have ever seen.

How bad is Neser injured?

I don't think he's likely to be back before Boxing Day, but that's just a guess otherwise you'd think he would have been added for sure. Also helps with the #batdeep factor

He lost his marbles years back and is a very biased old man. I don't particularly like or listen to his commentary. Nice to have the mute option.

He’s said putrid things for sure. (Fate should have allowed he and Bedi do a podcast) but he’s just stirring and needling here. I hope it motivates Australia.

Haze could have walked in and flattened the top six, after the way he bowled in Perth they wouldn't have dropped him anyway at 1-0 down and desperate for a win. Sunny's just an unflushable turd these days. He and Boycs are two of a kind. Something very sour and nutty about old openers.

Even if Hazlewood did say that, it's not like he's wrong. Even when the pitch flattened out they were still ****.

I didn't realise he was out, is Boland replacing him?
