I think the most important question of the series, nay Indian cricket's whole future, is "Will NK Reddy become the next Chris Woakes?"

The "luck" part of any sport is based entirely on how skilful the players are because being good increases the chances of good things happening for you.
Depends entirely on the time frame. The longer the time (larger the sample) the more likely what is perceived as "luck" is actually skill. But it definitely still happens. Look at Marnus, he had 3 or 4 years of averaging ~60 in Test cricket and he was never that good. Playing on a lot of roads and getting dropped constantly is definitely luck more than it's skill

Now that Webster's in the squad I just want him to play as he's one of the few in form batters in the squad. His bowling also means we hopefully never have to see Labuschagne's medium pacers again

4 changes-
Rohit, Gill, Jadeja, Akash in place of Padikkal, Jurel, Sundar, Harshit.

I would love to see Rahul bat at 3 and Gill at 5 or Rahul as opener and Rohit at 5. But neither option is likely.

I thought Gill was already ruled out of 2nd Test?

Edit: scratch that, 2 days ago it was reported he was out, now it seems he's back in the nets in Canberra before the PM XI game

A lot of criticism for how under prepped Australia team was in Perth. Since then all players went home.

Meanwhile a well prepped India are now playing a 2 day pink ball game vs Prime Minister's XI.

Since the warmup Pink ball game is going to be significantly shortened due to rain, there's no need to specifically try players who aren't going to play the pink ball test. There'd be a bit lucky if 4 sessions of play is possible. So need to make the most of it and prioritise the starting XI (and 1-2 others who could make the XI) so that they get familiar with the ball in daynight setting.

Hazlewood is the most accurate bowler in the world and looked the pick of the bowlers in the Australian lineup. Could have been deadly with the Pink ball depending on the conditions. However, Boland is almost as good a reserve. Tons of experience. Might even be a blessing in disguise as India seem to do well against the same old trio. Someone to freshen it up. And Boland did do well in the WTC Final too, picking up 5 wickets in the match besides being economical.

Australia has called up 32 year old Abbott and 30 year old Doggett to join 35 year old Boland as pace reserves. One of these 3 oldies will replace Hazlewood for 2nd Test

Doggett is such a bad pick. Was a reserve for a reserve for a reserve for the A game and has been picked basically on one spell in that match.

Won't play anyway but still.

doggett in the squad, george bailey is washed.
Bartlett is in Adelaide but still on overs restrictions

Guaranteed that same will apply to Meredith, Richardson, etc

Our bowlers are made of tissue paper
