Nice idea, but would look silly if then lose/draw the 3rd and miss the WTC finalKind of makes me sad we haven't been able to give Boult a proper farewell. Technically available right? If we're 2-0 up give them both a final farewell at their home ground
and also good for Kris Clarke, playing alongside Southee for a season could help push him into Black Caps by end of next season - depending on success / lack of injuries for Smith and Foulkes. He'll continue playing not only franchise but also domestic cricket, per RNZ – that's nice.
With his bounce/hitting the bat hard might be the best non-Sears bowler for the Wagner role and can bat 8.Test squad announced today. The Post seems to think Foulkes is an outside chance for the squad.
I reckon 6 months ago that was the plan. Obviously his form has been poor but I think the emergence of O’Rourke, Sears looking handy and the rapid improvement of Foulkes he was probably told his career was coming to a close.I thought he'd try to go on to the Aussie tour in two summers, so that's a relief in a way.
I actually feel like I can sit back and enjoy the final days of his career now, especially after his epic knock in the first Test in India
Santner definitely not playing the first Test then. I think we'll probably see a Smith dayboo ahead of Duffy, for his batting.Tom Latham (capt), Tom Blundell, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Will O'Rourke, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner (Tests 2 and 3), Nathan Smith, Tim Southee, Kane Williamson, Will Young
Williamson returns for England series, Nathan Smith called up
Jacob Duffy has also been included and Mitchell Santner will join the squad for the second and third Testssearch.app

I think he's a lot more of a chance with Southee retiring. Firstly perhaps too similar to Southee to play together, secondly Henry is now the only experienced seamer, and they might like Duffy and his long FC career around for that reason.I feel sorry for Duffy, he was in the test squad two years ago after Henry and Boult not available, lost out in playing XI to Tickner (OK) and Kuggeleijn (argh), and assume now he will carry drinks for 1st test then get dropped from squad.
If Sears returns from injury, and Foulkes and Kris Clarke have a good Plunket Shield season, he might have missed a chance of a test cap.
Join the club. I'm the same age as Vettori who said Southee, after he made the Black Caps, was the first player to make him feel old.The first black cap who was younger than me. I'm officially old now.
Been a long time since he averaged 5 wickets a match so think he may just come up short. Really gunning for him to do it though.Southee should get 15 to get his 400 wickets.
Tim Southee has only had one 15+ wicket series in his entire Test career, that was against West Indies back in 2013Been a long time since he averaged 5 wickets a match so think he may just come up short. Really gunning for him to do it though.
Let's hope he doesn't get to 399 only for a mate to drop a stone cold sitter.
