Whilst Grimmett had one of the greatest bowling series in 35/36, it didn’t start out so dominant for him. In fact, O’Reilly was Australia’s leading bowler after the first two tests, with 13 @ 19.15 vs Grimmett’s (relatively) modest 11 @ 24.63.
He then proceeded to take 5 5’fers in the remaining 6 innings, taking 10+ wickets in all 3 remaining matches. 5/56, 5/32, 7/40, 3/70, 6/73 and 7/100. To end with figures of 44 @ 14.59 vs O’Reilly’s 27 @ 17.03
The only innings Grimmett didn’t take a 5’fer in those last 3 tests was of course, O’Reilly’s single 5’fer for the entire series - 5/20

I believe you mean C.A.G Russell. He was mainly an opener, and became ill after that tour, performing pretty terribly (average 30 and 34 over 25+ matches each) in the next two county seasons. By that time Sutcliffe had firmly established himself alongside Hobbs.
He was A.C. Russell in scorecards during his career (and later - I have a book from the 50s which has references to A.C. Russell, H. Makepeace, E. Tyldesley, L.G. Berry and a few other sets of initials that you don't get in modern books. Though as I've seen pointed out, if you insist on going by their birth certificates for pre-war cricketers, why is Bob Willis not listed as R.G. Willis?)
