Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

Qlder

International Regular
Charles Bannerman scored 165 in the first ever test. This is still the highest score by an Australian on debut. It is also the highest individual share of a completed team innings in Test cricket history.
Not through lack of trying, some went awfully close

Archie Jackson 164
Kepler Wessels 162
Wayne Phillips 159
Doug Walters 155
Michael Clarke 151

Keeping track of 6’s.

Pant up to 64 in 62 innings.

Pant now also has 7 dismissals in the 90’s, tied for 8th most all time.

It also makes him the only batsman with a min 5 tons to have scored more 90’s than hundreds

(Only one other bat, Clem Hill - 5 in 89, managed 5+ 90’s in less than 100 innings)

It's also still the highest "retired hurt" innings in a Test.

It's no longer true but I read somewhere that at some point Naseem Shah avged more with the bat in both tests and ODIs than Surya and now Surya avgs less than Naseem with ball in T20Is

I don't think anything tops Bradman being stranded on 299*

Countries with the most Number of bowlers averaging over 50 with at least 25 wickets:-

BD-6
SL-3
WI-3
IND-3
PAK-2
ZIM-1
SA-1
NZ-1
ENG-1

While bowlers from other countries were mainly partly part timers, All 6 of the BD bowlers are Frontline bowlers.

Some other bowlers like Ebadot @47.14 and Taskin @45.23 comes close.

Don’t be trying to hide that England also has one player, and that Australia is the only country not succumbing to such mediocrity.

Oh I missed one.

Doesn't matter really. Compton was a Frontline batter and only a part time left arm leggie in tests.

25 batsman have scored 100 first class centuries

12 of those batsmen played during the interwar period.

None of them however, played exclusively during the interwar period.

The closest would be Sutcliffe, who played from 1919-1945 (the 1945 however was a one off match for Yorkshire vs Royal Air Force, where he scored 8 runs, otherwise he’d be 1919-1939)

This is the 3rd match in his career that Bumrah has gone wicketless.

The others were the 2021 WTC final and the D/N match in 2021 vs England.

For comparison, both Rabada and Cummins have gone wicketless once.

Rabada in his second match in India way back in 2015 (the match against NZ in 2016 doesn’t count because he didn’t bowl). Cummins against India in Sydney in 2019.

How many times have some ATGs gone wicketless?

Makes sense though. On turning tracks with 3 quality spinners in the team, Bumrah is not highly unlikely to go wicketless. The WTC final is the exception
