South Africa team selection

If you was in charge of the SA team for AFG series who would you pick ?
CPL players are Stubbs, Miller, Maharaj, Nortje. Klaasen & Shamsi withdrew. Rabada rested. Marco back ? Ngidi fit? Coetzee still injured. So many questions marks.

Also this is the SA A 4-day squad so some would have to pull out if selected.

So much to digest in these squads

CPL + Klaasen weren't considered
Verreynne & Stubbs back in ODI squads
First ODI call-ups for Smith, Simelane & Peter
Breetzke back in T20 squad
Rickelton only in Ireland series squads
Reeza still in the ODI squad
Phehlukwayo still there
No Bedingham
M Jansen, Rabada rested
Coetzee injury recovery

Presume Stubbs made himself available as technically as he is part of the cpl this season. He did talk about only playing SA20,IPL and protea +warriors going forward so maybe it wasn't a big deal for him to pull out.

Excited to see Peter selected for both ODI & T20.

Really disappointed Bedingham not picked but then not surprised.

If could select an ODI team without worrying about politics who would you pick for the Ireland series? (Assuming that CPL players wouldn't be available)
Assuming also that the big guns are rested :
1.Brevis (6)
2.De Zorzi
3.Bedingham
4.Markram (7)
5.Verreynne (WK)
6.Stubbs
7.Potgieter (5)
8.Linde
9.Swanepoel
10.Burger
11.Baartman

12.Maphaka 13.Forrester 14.Peter 15.Van Buuren

Beyers Swanepoel has had a tough few months. Good learning all the same for him.

Not sure there is enough penetration in this attack for SA to get 20 wickets.

You need atleast one speedster in a redball game ..nobody with pace in the line up ..

Should have promoted someone like Peter

SA needs more test cricket and this team needs more test cricket and what better place to start a good sub-continent challenge in this teams development than Bangladesh. Testing but you need to succeed for greater challenges.

Hopefully safety pulls through.

Chattogram, Dhaka or Mirpur.

What happened to Ruan de Swardt? He looked decent against New Zealand. Could play just as a batsman in this side.

Moore, Hamza, Petersen, van Tonder & de Swardt all got the chop. I don't even think De Swardt has a top tier domestic 4-day hundred?

But I get your point. There are a lot of batsman who haven't been called up for an SA side in recent months with bigger upsides currently.

Jordan Hermann
Josh Richards
Jono Bird
Gavin Kaplan
Bryce Parsons
Daniel Smith
Mitch van Buuren
Delano Potgieter

Even Janneman Malan & Ruben Hermann but are probably only white ball.
