Sachin was incredible but comparing him to Sanath who didn't really succeed as the explosive opener he was known for until after 1995 is a bit of a cop out

If 90s Sachin was playing in a strong batting line up, he would have been more aggressive.

Yeah I get it, but you used Sachin's stats v Sanath's to demonstrate the point which doesn't really make sense since that was before the latter started making a name for himself in the position

.Sobers stats better, but I'm not sure which was a better allround performance though? Sobers had a lot of not outs and same wkts in 11 more bowling innings and only 1 5fer to Botham's 6? Happy to call it a tie

Obviously over rates are slower nowadays. Still tons in a session occur at a similarish rate I believe, since players generally score faster now.

Others who have done it twice include McCabe, Weekes, Walters, Hayden, de Villiers, Warner, Dhawan and Stokes.
Bradman, Hammond, Hayden all scored 100 runs in two seperate sessions in their famous triples.
Phil Mead and Jack Russell (legal first names both coincidentally Charles) both scored centuries in a session in the same test, Mead in one innings and Russell in the other. Of course its well known Hayden and Gilly both scored 100’s in the same session. What’s probably not as well known is that Chris Gayle and Dwayne Smith both scored tons in a session against South Africa months later, Gayle in the first innings and Smith in the second.
So far we haven’t seen two batsmen on opposite teams score tons in a session in the same test.
