I wouldn’t in a test teamWould agree with your POV if you don't include Barry Richards and Mike Procter for SA.

Then fair enough.I wouldn’t in a test team
They both win matches, only difference is that Ashwin is the better bowler while Jadeja is the better batter. But to say Jadeja doesn't win matches is to be blind and dumb. If you aren't either of those things, then you can feel free to retract that statement.Jadeja is a second strong bowler. Ashwin wins matches. Jadeja is support.
I think Jadeja is a very valuable cricketer but all of these are relative and you are comparing him to the most valuable bat to ever play in the subcontinent. At no stage would I consider Jadeja in the top three bats or top two bowlers in the teamThey both win matches, only difference is that Ashwin is the better bowler while Jadeja is the better batter. I don't think Sehwag is the most valuable bat in the subcontinent, and even then Jadeja's allround contributions are significant enough to be more valuable than pure batting performances. Besides, in Tests bowling matters a lot more and Jadeja is no slouch there.I think Jadeja is a very valuable cricketer but all of these are relative and you are comparing him to the most valuable bat to ever play in the subcontinent. Rohit is a white ball great, but this seems far far too high for tests. I'd put him behind the likes of Vengsakar and Azharuddin and outside the top 20.Let me see....
Sachin
Gavaskar
Dev
Virat
Ashwin
Dravid
Dhoni
Jadeja
Bumrah
Kumble
Ganguly
Chandrasekhar
Rohit
Laxman
Hazare
Mankad
Bedi
Shami
Merchant
Pujara
Pant
Engineer
Gupte
Prasanna
Amarnath
So not Top 10, but definitely top 20 and probably 15.
Then you've obviously not seen him play in IndiaAt no stage would I consider Jadeja in the top three bats or top two bowlers in the team

Have to watch the cricket. Doesn’t hold a card on AshwinThen you've obviously not seen him play in India

Not including minnows & post 2020 stats because he didn't feature in the Eng demolition job in 2021 at home, on very helpful surfaces!
This if you exclude Ashwin's worst series at home vs Eng in 2012 -

Tests+ ODIs Kohli should be above Gavaskar, cause Kohli’s the third best test bat of his era and in the top 3-4 for ODIs ever. Gavaskar is not even a country great let alone ATVG in ODIs. That drags him down a littleThis is not for Tests, but Tests+ODIs
It's like 75% Tests, 25% ODIs.Tests+ ODIs Kohli should be above Gavaskar, cause Kohli’s the third best test bat of his era and in the top 3-4 for ODIs ever. Gavaskar is not even a country great let alone ATVG in ODIs. That drags him down a little
Even with that probably. Cause Gavaskar more or less scores a zero on the latter. Atleast above Kapil. Kohli is closer to Kapil in tests than the other way around in ODIs.It's like 75% Tests, 25% ODIs.
Kapil is also an ODI ATG easily imo...... And well, on revision Gavaskar's ODI stats aren't really bad. An average of 36 at 62 SR was above average for the era; atleast better than I expected from him (admittedly my expectations were pretty low for that 36*).Even with that probably. Wow getting 2 of the fab four 8 times. What a bowlerTop 5 batsmen Jadeja has dismissed the most in Tests :
1.Angelo Mathews - 8 times
2.Joe Root - 8 times
3.Steven Smith - 8 times
4.Moeen Ali - 7 times
5.Alastair Cook - 7 times
Bar Moeen Ali these are all very good to great batsmen , a sign of a great bowler.
Yes Kapil is an ODI ATG Kohli is closer to him in tests(minimal gap), rather than in ODIs(Kapil slightly misses out of my top 10, Kohli is top 6-7).Kapil is also an ODI ATG easily imo...... Yeah, but Tests are 3x important and due to the ODI gap not being much huge..... It's close. Some other day I might go the opposite way.Yes Kapil is an ODI ATG Kohli is closer to him in tests(minimal gap), rather than in ODIs(Kapil slightly misses out of my top 10, Kohli is top 6-7).
