That's disingenuous. Jadeja has won India plenty of matches. He averages 20 with the ball and has a WPM of 5...... It's like saying Sehwag was a second (or third) strong batsman and it was Sachin who won India matches....

Well Amar Singh has no great record himself. His record is comparable at best to the other pace talent India has. Bumrah aside.

I think this is one where the numbers favour the man, it’s very clear that Ashwin is the lead bowler and Jadeja is support. If Ashwin wasn’t playing for India in an area where spin matters Jadeja couldn’t lead. And when Jadeja plays ex Ashwin he is used as a part time bowler

As I said, similar situation to Cowie really (unless you want to define his 7 Test match career great). We generally lack good pacers and Amar Singh had the best peer review by far. Since then, we have seen pacers with better record but bar Bumrah (and arguably Shami and Zaheer for parts, though I think it's pushing a bit, not counting Kapil) none has comparable peer ratings. And he could bat to boot (India's first Test half centurion).

Bar Moeen Ali these are all very good to great batsmen , a sign of a great bowler.

I always do, for old players as with time stats becomes more and more numbers..... I won't give a **** in my present ratings if a bunch of experts rates Kohli over Smith, because I have the context. Now, for players in early 20th Century, I simply don't have that luxury. I don't know how the runs were scored, so if everyone basically agrees that Trumper scored many more tough runs, was otherworldly at peak and suffered from health issues; I have to rank him ahead of Hill, doesn't matter how Coronis takes it.

Had wonderful English tours, was rated by Len Hutton as the best he faced, Bedser among the very best he saw, averages 18 in FC. If Jack Cowie qualifies for NZ, can't see why Amar Singh doesn't for India.
