Well he's out of the next Shield match because it turns out he did have a concussion after all. As I've said, they need to be researching a better helmet. Surely CA has the money to do it.
Should've happened about 4 concussions agoanyway getting to the point that CA will need force Will into retirement
tbf i don't think cricket will necessarily be as susceptible to concussion lawsuits?well yeah, when the first concussion lawsuit hits cricket, it seems unlikely that the defence of "yeah we're a sport that allows you to attempt to hit the batter in the head, but it's ok because they have helmets...which we know don't do anything to prevent concussion, but it's the vibe of them, you know? they help fight concussion that way" will be a winning strategy. so they better hope they can find a better helmet
but i'm not aware of any sport where helmets really help fight concussion. most of them have fought concussion by changing rules. cricket, arguably, is going backwards in this respect by now allowing two bouncers an over in OD cricket. maybe some slight improvements have been made, but the cricket helmet needs to have certain elements that still allow for it to be comfortably worn for long periods of time, which seems to me would inevitably come into conflict with designing a more concussion proof helmet. when you can get hit in the grill and suffer a concussion......
motor sport might be a sport where helmets fight concussion, but even then all the straps fixed to the driver probably do as much if not more to stop the rotation forces
The sight of Jake Carder walking out to bat probably less so.Shield being back again today is quite a nice birthday present
1/1 off 10 oversThat SA batting lineup really does make one feel nauseous.
Now McSweeney goes for a 17 ball duckSix consecutive maidens for O'Neill. From the other end Boland has conceded one run from his five overs. This is hilarious.
Harris will still end up making a ton.Not sure I’ve seen a Junction Oval pitch do this much.
