2023-24 Australian domestic cricket season

Billy Stanlake playing Shield again is interesting, as only one of two specialist quicks in the squad as well

Yeah I know that is the team balance Tasmania have went with all season and it has worked fairly well, but it does seem a lot more risky with Stanlake's history of being physically brittle
They do have five frontline seamers (and Freeman) even if only two are really specialists, they do have cover if he breaks down or can't bowl much.

Have we talked about Ashton Agar being left out of the WA shield side? They went with Rocciciolli. Big fall from playing the Sydney Test last year

No surprise to me. Last Shield season Agar played 1 Shield game and took 1-105 while Rocciciolli played 10 games taking 25 @ 32.2
Agar is now regarded, in the West, as a white ball cricketer.

Is 'Xavier' the new 'Mitchell' in Aussie cricket? First Doherty then Bartlett and now Crone
Parents really need to go back to just calling their children old-man names instead of names they'll be embarrassed about by the time they hit 35.

Thing that gets me is when they pronounce Xavier “Ex-ave-ee-er” or “Zay-vee-er” rather than “zav-ee-eh”.
